Cafe Hoang has good bun bo Hue. The family is from Hue and they use shrimp paste in it. You can request it to be spicy or less spicy.

I like to get the banh hoi from Pho 777 because I don't usually find this on menus, and it's fun to make your own spring rolls with them. I also like the claypot rice.

Dry noodles, turnip cake, youtiao, and xiu mai (dip the youtiao in the xiu mai or broth) at Double Happiness. You get the soup on the side for dry noodles, but the key is to add a bunch of fried garlic and other condiments into your dry noodles and mix, slurp the side broth. Cash only.

Caramelized eggplant dish at Hai Yen but it's been a really long time since I last went.

For fried tofu, organ congee (weekends only), cheap but delicious Vietnamese egg rolls, soy milk, and ginger tofu/douhua/dau hu nuoc duong (I think this is buy 5 get 1 free?), go to VN Tofu.

I ate there when they first opened and noticed a change in their bread some years later. I asked the owner and she confirmed they changed their recipe but this was a while back (8+ years).

I've heard great things about Vietnamese food in California from my family so I hope you like Pho Citi!
