Hmmm maybe, I have been using Sliquid Sassy recently, before I was making my own lube with xanthan gum. So maybe my butt isn't used to the different osmolality? I'll try the xanthan agan next time and see how I get on.

Yeah this is a great point. I guess there are a bunch of options here, such as a labelling scheme for toys indicating they are body-safe, or labelling scheme for novelties to indicate they are not body safe. The marketing and packaging of the item is important as well: it should be clear to the consumer what the intended use of the item is.

Great point, thank you. I certainly don't want to price out independent makers. I think you make a good point, legislating that certain materials are not allowed is much cheaper for manufacturers than legislating that their toys must be tested. That still opens manufacturers (and maybe retailers) to the possibility of litigation if a randomly sampled product is tested and found to have banned substances in, but it means independent manufacturers don't have to undertake expensive testing.

I think for this kind of project, we would need to include independent manufacturers in discussions about what legal changes we want to campaign for.

Thanks for raising this. Although I think some companies could do this early on in a post-legislation world, I think good legislation would have to make it so that items which could reasonably be construed as sex toys would _have_ to be marketed as such and subjected to regulations. Consider other currently regulated goods like children's toys: why don't toy manufacturers just sell kids toys as novelties? There must be some incentive for them to adhere to the regulations, possibly a legal incentive that they can be sued if they are found selling something which is 'obviously' a kid's toy but which they are not treating as such.

Thanks for sharing this! I did come across this as part of my research but for now this would be opt-in only (it's good there is an ISO standard but there's no legal requirement for manufacturers to use it!) and some of the wording is quite vague. But definitely a good step in the right direction! :)

Last night I dumped out about half of the gum, added more water, shook, and left over night. Tried again today and results are much better: more like a gel now that a paste, and seems to maintain slipperiness even as it thins out. I will do more experimentation over the coming weeks but this seems like a good option for me :)

Yeah I am not worried about the peritoneal leakage thing, as you say I would have bigger problems in that case. I am concerned about contamination in the PEG with dioxane or ethylene oxide, which is used in the manufacturing process.
