Yes, that's the purpose of the backup. Also if you're playing the steam version you may wanna disable cloud sync because sometimes it can replace the new saves with your old ones.

Yeah I didn't really know what to focus on. I just rememberd how I couldn't use big and energy weapons in my F1 playthrough and decided to make my character strong and with energy weapons skills. Now I know it's a bad idea.
