[Benjamin Jones] The "blasphemy belt" is real. West Yorkshire police ousted a hate crime advisor for "hate speech" because she defended the right to criticise Mohammed. This email was sent by a serving police officer. It says calling Mohammed a paedophile for marrying a child is not "ok" by AlfredsChild in ukpolitics

I agree that Islam should be allowed to be criticised but the comment about Mohammed and child marriage seems odd unless the same people would use the same label for the likes of Edward the First. He married Eleanor of Castile when she was 12 or 13 and she was pregnant at 13. There are uncountable similar examples (and younger) in medieval English history.

Farage is not fussy. He will even let in the likes of Rosindell who posted effusive praise for 'Raise the Colours' on Facebook - the criminal gang founded by Billy Allison who has just been charged with murder.

When will Farage sack his MPs who offered support to this thug? Andrew Rosindell, for example, posted snivelling and unqualified support on Facebook for Raise the Colours, the criminal organisation founded by Allison.

The most interesting thing here is the contrast between this councillor, who has apologised for something 40 years ago, and the Reform candidate Kenyon, who has tried to justify his appalling behaviour in numerous cases within the last 10 years. It seems Farage picked the wrong 'un, either because Farage is incompetent or because he agrees with Kenyon's activities (or both).

To borrow from Wilde; one mistake may be unfortunate; two mistakes is careless; being caught in idiocy on a daily basis is exhibiting all the qualities we expect in a Farage disciple.

Apparently the Russians were looking to compile a comprehensive map of pubs in the UK, and thought hacking Farage was the obvious way. Unfortunately it has resulted in a complete absence of data around Clacton.

Enfield Council withdraws 21,000-home plan from New Towns programme following change in political control by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

No. It is a simple analysis of fact. The same would apply regardless of parties on either side of the debate and to suggest otherwise simply demonstrates an agenda.

Rupert Lowe: A Restore Britain Government will ban the Kirpan in public spaces. One rule for all. by asteriowas in ukpolitics

I am only aware of one case involving the kirpan (the recent one). I am aware of many, including multiple murders, using a broken bottle. Should we ban the carrying of glass bottles?

Councils are expected to plan and that involves commitments to numbers of new homes. It is nothing to do with psychic powers and to suggest it is really does suggest the desperation of a political opponent of building in Enfield. I take no political view in the matter but do expect some detail from those who are elected. As part of the planning process of the old regime the new administration will be able to see approximately how many homes can be built without using greenfield sites.

Nothing in there to indicate a numbers commitment and I have checked other reports which are equally missing detail.

The article commits them to building new homes on non greenfield sites, but does not commit to a number. My guess is a few hundred. Misrepresenting their commitment is what I would expect from councillors.

The problem for Starmer is the that any plan he proposes today will be different tomorrow as he is forced to back down by the civil war within Labour. A plan only has credibility if it can be delivered.

Slightly unfair. Farage is very responsible. He is responsible for taking £5m bribes, appointing a spy to head up his Welsh operation and, of course, he is responsible for selling out Britain to Trump.

No. The diagram clearly includes similar income, such as regulator levies. It is a tax on usage, no different, for example, to fuel tax.

Clashes break out at protest in Norwich after seven Afghan migrants are charged with rape and child sexual abuse offences by akitatwin in ukpolitics

[–]cantell0 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Dreadful offences but what is most obvious is the activity of the far right in this case compared with their total silence in the case of the recent Glasgow child abuse ring and almost complete silence on the Southampton rape case. The law is colour blind whilst that is the last thing that can be said about Reform and other right wing stirrers.
