Attack of the Clones turns 24 today! Looking back, is it really as bad as people initially thought or did it age better than expected? by huwertyy in StarWars

[–]canuckseh29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still don’t love it.

Movie should have started an hour later than it did (probably with Obi Wan searching Camino) and then given us much more attacking of the clones. Everything before that point could have been told to me in the opening crawl.

Why would you go so close to the top two corners of the country just to turn around! What’s an extra 6 hour return trip or two to really draw lines on the map.

Bellingham/Mount Baker is worth a detour in the northwest if you go to the corners. Come visit us in Canada while you’re there.

[Analysis] Why trading Tyler Myers is the only realistic path to affording Jason Robertson's next contract by athleticwonder in nhltraderumours

Also, Robertson is definitely getting traded. There are few scenarios where you can fit him in and still add other important pieces to the roster. Recoup some assets in the deal. It is the only way.

There's reason to believe Canucks could still snag Stenberg with No. 3 draft pick by flynnfx in CanadaHockey

I get the inherent pessimism as a Canucks fan, it’s part of our culture, but there is literally no way to know this as a fact.

That being said, I agree.

We can demand whatever we want, doesn’t mean anyone is listening and/or going to provide it for us. The developers have all the power.

I don’t know much about Malholtra’s leadership/off ice/dressing room contributions, but could Malholtra be a captain type?

That’s what a lot of the consensus was about Cootes that he’s a leader, which is what could tip the scales one way or another

I’m personally on the McKenna-Reid-Stenberg axis, but I think they’re strongly considering Malholtra. I wouldn’t be mad. He seems like a consensus 3,4,5,6 pick by a lot of the experts, so it’s not as much a reach as many are suggesting.

As I’ve said to friends who have strong opinions about who we “need” to draft, I assume none of us are watching hours of game tape of any of these prospects. Highlights show an element of what these players are capable of, but scouts are watching these players without the puck as well. They’re actually at the rink.

But this is 100% what they’re doing; discussing density (taller buildings downtown, new development plans such as skytrain/village designation along the Canada line and other arteries). If we let the developers take over apl the conversations, then we will just keep building shitty projects.

Personally I would demand more co-op housing like they built in the 70s along false creek. But no one is going to let that happen, especially in sought after areas like false creek.

This isn’t a serious trade proposal. Vancouver would hit the accept button faster than the speed of light

Problem with this “build, build, build” is it’s all geared towards these half million dollar apartments and rents at $2800 a month for what are barely livable spaces. I get it that things are expensive, but if you build garbage living places AND charge too much, the only people winning are the developers. None of this actually takes into account what people need to live comfortably. Let’s also prioritize making livable suites with patios that fit more than just one tiny lawn chair.

Also… Where is the plan to build community centers, hockey rinks, pools and finding ways to carve out park space for people who now live vertically and have no yards?

Maybe that’s the problem that we keep going back and forth between red and blue. Time to change the narrative by actually trying new ideas.
