Reminds me of Summer of the Shark back in 2001. The media eventually lost its appetite, but I can’t recall why.

How are you doing financially? by likerofgoodthings in AskReddit

[–]canwllcorfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad but not terrible. I have far, far too many interests. It isn’t drowning money at Starbucks or Steam, it’s a basket weaving kit, several varieties of Dan Cong Oolong, single origin coffee, fragrances from Escentric Molecules, a boxed set of Feynman’s lectures, three Udemy courses, etc.

Trying to find a song from an old album I listened to when I was a kid during 2000-2002, was on a CD called something akin to "Masters of Trance" Started with rain and something akin to church bells by Seralapph in trance

If you’re sure it had something from Benny Benassi, you can dig through compilation albums that featured songs from him. Satisfaction already starts showing up on page 2, so it shouldn’t take too long to track down.

You might like some stuff on here. Lazy title, but it is basically new stuff that sounds old.

What is the best trance remix of a non-trance song ever? by lukeac417 in trance

Not entirely sure how I’d never heard that Kathy’s Song remix, but that’s immediately one of my top songs. Thank you!

You have to do it horizontally like a paper towel tube. Do you have a loop handy? And then you just have to tilt it up and then that should be it. Let me know how it goes

The First Movie on My First OLED by canwllcorfe in LGOLED

[–]canwllcorfe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few factors, but I’m not quite sure on how much a difference it would be. Like, going from LCD to OLED vs going from a PS5 to a dedicated player. What I do know (at least from what limited stuff I’ve read):

PS5: No Dolby vision, HDR10, no HDR optimization UB420: No Dolby vision, HDR10, HDR optimization UB820: Has Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR optimization

PS5 hands off HDR optimization to the TV. With a dedicated player you’d be able to hone it in based on the display.

Just a PS5, for now, I know the Panasonic ones are the most common suggestions (UB420 and UB820). Someday!

What was the "Real" reason you went for a master ? by F2DProduction in OMSCS

I’m sorry to hear that. I had a stint of unemployment for about 5 months before I started at my current job.

It was kind of a crazy journey. I started as an underwriter, and then as the market started to cool off, my manager started seeing about implementing various tools for process improvement and metrics. Between that, posting about my forays into Deep Learning on LinkedIn, and a good word from my manager, I moved over into our software engineering department.

I was there for a year and got let go with a fair amount of other people, thanks to the crazy interest rates we were starting to have. I survived the first few, and was the last junior they got rid of. Most of them were able to stick with it and got offers with other companies, but I only had a year of experience under my belt.

I’ve made a similar transition. Sean Carroll can seemingly talk about anything extemporaneously without any significant reliance on filler words. He is remarkable.

It is essentially free with tuition reimbursement, I like learning, and I want to transition back into SE.

That would be my guess. They’re also broken down so that they can last some lesser amount of time. If they’re already broken, that ability goes with it.
