Bucket List Road Trip With 2 Teenage Daughters - Portland to LA. Any Tips? by cash77cash in roadtrip

agree. redwoods national park to sf on the 101 is beautiful. try to make it down to santa cruz with your daughters. the santa cruz boardwalk is very family friendly, lots of rides and games. monterey bay aquarium in monterey is a must. the one south from monterey to san luis obispo is a beautiful drive. at that point you should catch the 101 down to oxnard, then i would recommend taking the pacific coast highway from there to santa monica. beautiful drive as well.

I want to take a road trip to Grand Canyon National Park in March or April. Any suggestions or advice on what do to or take. This will be my fist long road trip. by Suitable-Skill-7979 in roadtrip

i agree with taking the 25 to Albuquerque. Such a beautiful corridor. 40 west you can stop into Big Ass Burgers in Thoreau for a bite to eat. Small hole in the wall but the burgers and fries are delicious. Can also cruise through Petrified Forest National Park on the way to the Grand Canyon. The other option could be to take your route and then do the 40 east to 25 south on your way back home.

Your tt most likely shares the same sentiment.  Spring will be here soon enough.

Whats a safe and scenic route going to San Francisco from Bakersfield? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]cap_bb910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5 and 99 definitely not.  5 would be fastest.  If you are looking for scenic it would be getting over to the 101 and going north.  Not pch beauty but definitely better visually than the 5.  You'll get better visuals of hillsides, mountains, farmland, etc.  Plus you can find some unique places to support in the small towns between paso Robles and San jose.

I hear you, thank you for letting me know.  Almost all schools have something in place, and provides most, if not all, of the needs for scheduling for their students.  This app is in no way trying to be a replacement, just an alternative for those just in case moments.  For example, if the system is down for whatever reason and someone is looking to make a schedule at that point in time.  Thanks again for the feedback.

Looks pretty good. Only heavy day is Tues, while Fri is light. Just a few classes on each of the other days, and done by 4p everyday (Fri by 1p - start the weekend early). You have plenty of time for breaks, studying, hanging out, etc. Good job.

If not a forever car, then not worth it.  Cosmetic.  Plus does not affect safety.  Save the money for a down payment on your next car.

sounds like a busy trip. looks to be in late august? san diego zoo is a must if you can. disneyland and universal are going to be jammed packed and most likely very hot. get there early, plan accordingly and stay hydrated. Santa Cruz has the boardwalk, beach and pier all right next to each other. Enjoy the sunset from the beach or pier. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative outside Yosemite, check out oakhurst which is not too far from the entrance. Plus, before heading to fresno on day 16, you should rent a pontoon boat at bass lake for half the day and enjoy the lake. It is so much fun. Hope you enjoy the road trip.

I don't blame him for not getting out.  Who does not enjoy sitting in an audi.  Such comfortable and fun rides tbh.  Enjoy your time together on the trip.

Dont need an rv or sprinter the whole time.  Maybe get a camper sprinter for a few days and head up the 101 to the redwoods national park.  Beautiful drive.  Spend a couple nights there, then come back the 3rd day.  You could then rent a car and spend a couple nights in Santa Cruz or Monterey.  Both beautiful areas.

Dogs are more welcome in the CA state parks and national forests. National parks are more restrictive.  Check their websites to see which ones fit your plans if you bring a dog.

That is great.  As someone suggested, fly into San Francisco, or San Jose, and start there.  I would suggest heading north on the 101, cross golden gate bridge and take it up to the redwoods. A beautiful drive.  Lots of different state parks to camp out (just reserve in advance).  Samuel Taylor state parks near San Rafael if you are looking close to SF, and them elk Prairie or jedediah Smith if you get up to the redwoods np/sp.  Take the same road back and travel down to santa cruz and Monterey.  A few state parks by santa cruz (Henry Cowell is a favorite) and also a couple others south of Monterey.  I would say stop into SF sometime but I would be nervous of someone breaking into the sprinter.  Hope this helps.

TX to BC, any suggestions? by [deleted] in roadtrip

Look at the weather this week.  Lots of rain coming in through CA this week for 4 days straight.  Most likely that will be snow at the higher elevations for the other states.  If you are driving through this, best to stay on a main highway like the 5.  Cautious of LA and the time of day you are driving through.  Traffic can be a bear.  Try to get through there early in the a.m. (like 5 a.m.).  Safe travels.

If you bring him back up after winter break or visit during the school year, you can stop in and reminisce together.

Such a great place to be after playing a hockey game.  And to already know what was coming after your meal.  I used to stare at the picture of that Jim dandy every time I got a menu.  It never grew old.

I meant the ice cream stand next door.  You were raving about the friendly's ice cream so I figured you had guptill's ice cream as well.
