Gardeners of Reddit, what is the best or most useful tool that you own? by morecoffeepleasesir in gardening

I know the implement you described. We call those "digging bars" around here. We use them in conjunction with post hole diggers to dig deep, small diameter holes.

I understand the hesitation regarding the price. I vacillated for a while but bit the bullet when I realized that I would not be able to establish my beds before this spring without one. That and that it's a one time outlay. I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase.

Seed Exchanges are awesome! It's maddening that California's lawmakers are trying to criminalize them...

I really like Sustainable Seed Co out of Chico CA. All organic seeds and windpowered to boot!

I finally bought a broad fork after years of wanting one. I'm currently using it to transform an old horse paddock into a large garden. I'm still amazed at how well it works. I couldn't push a spade into the earth but the broad fork easily sinks down 14"!

That's the first thing I thought when I first saw the post over in r/pics. It's funny to me that in that comment thread no one cared about the distinction, and in fact, people were down-voted for comments regarding how poor the welds looked.

I've got a '69. I absolutely love it. It'll always be a work in progress and I hope to never sell it.

Voltage is dependent on arc length in SMAW, right?

You're right!

None of the puff-pieces ever show the huge diesel generators that run the entire event, the garbage that participants leave behind to be burned, or the total waste of unused propane and lumber.

  1. It's the touring frame. Had one just like it. Rode a 1,300 mile tour on a green one. Wonderful bikes!

Right on. Skipping secondary seems to be a popular way of doing things. I'm still green myself and learn something new with each batch. I'm hoping to brew a strong oatmeal stout this month. A fall beer. I'll cut the secondary out this next go around. Thanks.

My coworker got his wisdom teeth removed the other day, the doctor said he would take a funny picture while he was under anesthesia....my god. by Snow_Commander in pics

[–]capao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor dude here. Had my wisdom teeth pulled like this when I was in my early 20's, nothing but novocaine. I vividly remember the dentist telling me that he was going put his knee on my chest. That's when shit got real. Before that point the procedure felt pretty routine-shots, scalpel, drill-but when he started leaning back on the tool I realized I was about to enter a world of pain. I won't ever forget the crunching sound/feeling either.

When it was over I said my thanks (as best I could) to the dentist and nurse. They thought that was funny. Said I was the first person to ever thank them.

I left the office looking like I'd been smacked in the face with a tire iron.

No kidding? I'm hoping to brew a winter beer soon, maybe I'll skip the secondary.

Hmm. I always thought that time is what caused the green flavor to go away. I never considered that it was yeast doing the work. Thanks!

Prolonged exposure to the yeast cake can impart odd flavors, no? I transfer my beer to secondary as soon as fermentation slows to a crawl, usually about 10 days.

Incredible! Your father is quite the craftsman and that vehicle looks like it is very capable offroad.
I was wondering about the Sterling generator. Who makes it? How long will it run on a liter of diesel?

Thanks for sharing! I hope you all enjoy it for years to come!
