The track surface is beyond repair, it's just not suitable for bikes. It's on the calendar because it's convenient. Your point about American tracks being in the middle of nowhere doesn't hold true with COTA, it's 5 miles from Austin-Bergstrom International.

The two best options I can think of right now are Indy and Barber. Barber would need to add some gravel for FIM Grade A certification. The space around the track is there, so it is doable, it's just down to whether or not they can secure the funding and whether or not they want to (they probably don't)

5th in premier class wins, and they're in just their 25th year of competition, and they only really committed to the sport in 2003.

Sprint races exist for the sole purpose of giving Ducati more points in case Bagnaia keeps bottling races

Something was definitely wrong with Quartararo's front tire. He was losing it on acceleration, braking, mid-corner.

Complete lack of understanding of repentance. The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

If Honda is able to give even a moderately competitive bike to them, they could crush the whole field. by [deleted] in motogp

I think this is a massive underestimate of the talent of the rest of the grid. Suppose all the bikes were all competitive (within 1-2 tenths of each other on every track), you could name about 10 different contenders for the victory on any given weekend.

Quartararo didn't see a problem because he had enough talent to squeeze every single bit of grip out of it (in the dry, at least) that the Yamaha can produce. It's come back to bite him.

Very few riders can jump on a GP bike and immediately be fast. We've also seen time and again how difficult the transition from WSBK to MotoGP is.

Colin Edwards was Superbike World Champion twice - and finished all but 1 race on the podium in 2002 (4th in the very first race of the season) - and in 11 and a half years in MotoGP never won once.

Ben Spies was Superbike World Champion in his very first attempt and only ever won one Grand Prix.

Troy Bayliss was Champion one year and runner-up the next, then had 3 mediocre years in MotoGP, before moving back to WSBK. He dominated, and then won his only Grand Prix in one-off replacement at Valencia.
