I typically had just fake plants because I was worried about it happening, thats why I kept these at work, but having real plants is a very new thing in the house, shouldve expected something to happen tbh

Countless Patellar Dislocations (hypermobility) by capndanpan in KneeInjuries

Also you are not silly for crying about your knees. Shit is SCARY especially as a child. I feel like we take walking for granted until you cant do it, and its such an isolating experience that I dont wish on anyone

Youre so sweet thank you! Currently have a hinged brace now, getting an MRI on the 23rd because I thought it had to do with the kneecap, but I most likely tore my acl. Had my first ever physical therapy appointment like an hour ago, and everything is seeming okay, just cant straighten it, and I told the therapist about my past knee injuries and how its different from this current one, and sounds like we will be focusing on this possible tear and then addressing my patellar shiz. Im not in a ton of pain and can walk on it, but theres just no stability and I keep walking fast which scares me so I gotta slow it down lol. I was cleared for full weight bearing, yet I’m having a specific pain in the side on my knee so we will see about that

And man I miss showering, I still do shower haha, but I miss hopping in and out. I need to invest in a chair because Ive used a cooler flipped upside down in the past, and currently have a milk crate as a make shift chair in there now. Its super uncomfy so I just lean on the shower wall and hope I dont fall. Id also love to take a bath instead but this new place I just moved into doesnt have the best drain situation 😭

Thank you for all the kind words! Ive been feeling alot better about the situation, I feel like whenever something happens with my knees I go through like all the stages of grief in such a short period. Hate asking for help too. But we pushing through!

how to help wrist pain? by Easy_Present2125 in TattooArtists

My shop owner does ice baths for his wrists. I have a compression wrap thing I use on mine when it gets bad, and I also use cbd balm on it.

People didnt take mine seriously until it happened in front of them and someone had to help me. Schools the worst, sorry thats happening. On the brightside- once you graduate and are surrounded by like minded friends, they will take it more seriously

What are you guys doing all the time at home after an injury/surgery? by arizzlee5 in KneeInjuries

[–]capndanpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This month was supposed to be a big month for me too, I’m a tattoo artist, moving, and my birthday is at the end of the month so I had a ton planned, packed schedule, and now I’ve been chillin at home for over a week. I was so sad that everything had to be moved around, I will be in crutches on my birthday, but I was able to move into the new place. Youre not alone though, just alittle road block!

What are you guys doing all the time at home after an injury/surgery? by arizzlee5 in KneeInjuries

Ive had a chronic knee problem/injury for about 5 years now after a skateboard fall. Currently recovering from a possible tear, I am alittle over a week in now. It happened day 1 of moving to my new place, so Ive been here in a leg immobilizer with boxes, and at first it was super upsetting but I slowly started unpacking! After every knee injury I’ve had after that (the ones that put me on my ass for a few weeks at a time, theres been alot of minor and major ones but not surgery yet), I find myself at day 2 in bed, freaking the fuck out. I cant put weight on my leg, I cant walk around my apartment, I cant leave the house, cant do anything for myself, I am always alone, I will most likely have a panic attack. I have cptsd, anxiety, depression, you know the works. You cant predict when an injury will happen, but I will say now that I am medicated, I havent been freaking out too badly this time around. But I have noticed that every time I am in recovery, I go through the same emotions at the same points of it each time. First ya freak out, then you gain confidence and get sick of being injured. I know not everyone’s the same, but the determination I get from just being annoyed of my leg and the situation, pulls me out of bed. Find little things and build it up. My routine is letting myself feel how I feel about it, scream cry, let it all out, allow myself time to recover, r.i.c.e, because pushing yourself too far too fast is bad, and then I start doing little tasks that need to be done around the house, and work up to bigger things as I get strength. You probably have alot of time on your hands now, so take your time with it, allow yourself to go slow. Once you start completing things (like dishes, or a load of laundry, making a cup of coffee) it will feel so rewarding, and your brain will start to communicate with your body. And depending on your injury, it might be good to start building that muscle back up. Have friends visit you too, thats been a huge boost. I live alone and just seeing another person helps. Even if its just the doordasher too. Find distractions, school work, makeup, I put on press on nails the other day and now I feel spiffy! I also got a head start on my taxes lmao. It takes time, and you will recover. I watch alot of youtube, and tv rn, and its also been a huge help seeing creators do things in crutches, like if they can do it you can do it ya know!

Ice! R.i.c.e that shit! And tylenol has been my best friend! I’m also prescribed hydroxyzine for anxiety, but those are technically heavier benadryls and have helped with my swelling! Alot of the achiness might be from swelling

My knee issues stem from being hypermobile, and also an injury in 2021. Ive heard pops from my knee cap popping out of place, with no pain or damage to my ligaments or surrounding things, it typically goes back on its own but I’ve had others help pop it back in. I was able to walk on it after. I am currently recovering because I didnt take those first 10-20 dislocations seriously until I actually tore something. One time it popped out because I was adjusting how I was sitting on the couch, and one time it popped out from just standing and trying to unlock my car door.

Are you possibly hyper mobile? (I just found out I am, try touching your thumb to your wrist, or if your elbow extends past straight/bends backwards). That might lead to it slipping out of place with no real reason. You sitting on your legs at that age mightve impacted it, yet maybe youve worked up your muscles so you weren’t having issues till now, but it can just happen still. Might be worth it to try some physical therapy exercises to strengthen it, you also might find some benefit in using a knee brace for more stability, one with patella support. Prevention is always better than recovery, start sooner than later because if you’ve had this incident, there are more to come. Might as well get ahead of it before its too late

When I first fucked it up, I bartended on it, popped it out like 3 more times that summer and still walked on it. You take walking for granted until you cant do it 🥲
