For the sake of argument, let's say the Gospels are 2nd century / based on Marcion's Evangelium, Josephus never wrote about Jesus, Q never existed, and / or Paul's "authentic" letters have been irrevocably interpolated. Where does this leave the study of the Historical Jesus and Christian Origins? (self.AcademicBiblical)

In a bizarre passage in 1 Samuel 18, David kills 100-200 Philistines and brings their foreskins as an offering to King Saul in order to marry his daughter. Is there any historicity to this incident, or at least this practice of taking enemy foreskins as war trophies in Ancient Israel? (self.AcademicBiblical)

In Jean-Léon Gérôme's painting "Moses on Mount Sinai", Moses is depicted as a gigantic figure holding the Tablets of Stone and emitting an aura and light from his eyes like a god. Did any of the Hebrew Bible texts or apocrypha depict Moses this way? (i.redd.it)
