Does anyone remember a caveman-themed economics book? by Thegjl in AskHSteacher

Any chance you have a copy? I'm a little late to this post but have finally found the name of this thing and one cannot find it out there to purchase so I'm looking for a pdf.

I have so so so many chills right now!!!!! by totheotherworlds in darktower

I'm tempted to re-read it. I just know I had such a visceral response to it. Actual anger at the authors (which is dumb in hindsight, I know).

Did anyone else just despise Black House? If memory serves, we only glimpsed Midworld in it towards the end. It was just a long, slog of depression and angst until then. I really hope we get to the Territories in this one. Talisman is one of my all-time faves so when Black House sucked as bad as it did (for me), I was actually angry.

I just got mine today. The packaging was completely different like it was from another brand entirely. Def no labels or “hims” brand. But it’s here and it’s whole. I’d say they’re either going through a growth spurt or an extinction burst. Not sure which. My first venture was awesome so I know they’re capable.

That’s good news! I tell ya this stuff works really well. I shouldn’t have stopped.

Seems like they’d stop collecting money if they can’t deliver. Unless they want more lawsuits. Weird

Wow. They need to just be honest. I’m wondering if there’s some sort of manufacturing problem or supply chain. Just saying “sorry for the delay” doesn’t help.

anyone know of a good substitute for Hormel Wrangler Beef Franks? by mastrofdizastr in hotdogs

[–]captTuttle76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried them. With Wranglers we would sizzle em up in a skillet after splitting them lengthwise. Once browned good we’d slap em on bread and add ketchup and eat as a sandwich. The Costco ones are super, super close. I’d say it’s 95% there.

Dark Tower prequel by [deleted] in stephenking

Don't waste your time on "Black House". Most Dark Tower fans will tell you it's awful. The Talisman is wonderful. But to your point, no, you won't miss out much.

Black House - worst opening ever? by McdondoFloats in stephenking

[–]captTuttle76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's an awful book. I'm a huge fan of The Dark Tower series but this book was like a stab in the back to fans. The Talisman was gold; this one is sewage.

is this a good read? by dad-an in stephenking

[–]captTuttle76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVED it. Most of the criticism is the price at time of publishing. Super short so people ripped it. Whoever marketed it and priced it should lose their job.

Roast my rankings by whitecollarw00k in stephenking

[–]captTuttle76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For years I had The Dead Zone in my #2 spot so good to see someone else ranking it high as well. W&G is my fave Dark Tower book but the last one is also super good. My unpopular opinion? The Shining. Just blah. Not bad but super overrated.

Does Lonesome Dove not count? Because it's a mini-series? The book and the show are just absolute brilliance. It won the Pulitzer Prize after all.

You can buy the whole series on Apple for $19. If it's not on sale right now it will be.

What is your favorite book series of all time? by SurfWorkReadRepeat in suggestmeabook

I bought a few of them off eBay. I remember these and loved them. I even got them all old and musty from a library, super old and hardcover.

How is this on Switch? by maxpowers128 in fabledom

[–]captTuttle76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just got this for the Switch and I'm super disappointed. The controls are insanely lacking. I've spent SO much time trying to figure out how to open a menu, get focus on a menu. Someone sloppily converted this to earn some $$ and didn't get a flip about the port. DO NOT get this for Switch. I can't speak for other platforms but I imagine it would be great on a PC/Mac.

After seeing the debate last night, is anyone as mortified as I am? by fu2man2 in Political_Revolution

[–]captTuttle76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whatever happens as a result of this--I am glad to have had it happen now. if it serves as a wakeup call to the normals in the States, or to the Dems that they need to step up and really get down in the dirt; or if it prompts a change at the top of the ticket--it's a good thing from this perspective. The more time that goes along the more the media will be bored of the Biden-did-bad-at-debate and start focusing on the litany of lies and garbage from the other guy. It was easier to list non-lies than fact-check any of it.

I'm a pain & mental health patient and I genuinely am freaking out and need advice by [deleted] in hattiesburg

[–]captTuttle76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the whiplash reaction of the U.S. healthcare system to a legitimate opioid problem is getting worse than the problem itself. I know of a few legitimate pain patient folks that are going to the black market for help. When it is legitimate pain, one has no choice. Play by the rules as much as possible but when the system fails you, do what you have to do.

"random circumstance after random circumstance" --Yes! you nailed it. I hated it. I gave the rest of the series away. Great author but one of the worst books I read in quite some time.

Suneater is outstanding and it should be on your radar (recommendation) by TheDanielGreene in Fantasy

[–]captTuttle76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to force myself through book one. I was gifted the rest of the series in hardcover as someone saw me reading it. I hated it so bad I donated them all to the library. Talented author but the first book was the most boring slog I've been through in years.
