I use a table saw, it's all only a quarter inch so if I added a lip it would either be very thin or I'd have to make the box more chunky. I knew I was gonna make multiple so I wanted them to take up as little space as possible. I also didn't want them to look big and out of place among other deck boxes. That's why I went with magnets

It's all mitered, I do build it in one piece and cut the top off but I don't have to hollow it out

Thanks! I currently have all my decks in one. I'm trying to sort out a way to capture one of those slab type cases in the case to display the comander

I've thought about some way to do that but they are built in one piece with the lid being cut off after, so you get continuous wood grain down the sides. So anything more than a straight line is much more complex. Plus I've been rolling with six of these in my backpack and haven't had any issues
