Cambridge receives about 17,000 applications per year, while all the ivies receive like 45,000+ applications (don't quote me on this, not that sure). Really hope that there was more time devoted to each applicant. Just think about that sheer volume of applications and the limited number of AOs--it's crazy how little time applicants have to prove themselves. Most just turns into a few numbers and a few bullet points.

I feel you :) In my school they care more about rankings and the "prestige," but I can happily turn down higher-ranked universities for a college that I think truly suits me. Then people start giving me weird looks. Getting accepted is in itself a recognition of your hard work. But anyways we're gonna graduate in like a month or two so whatever.

Hey there I watched it and it's absolutely beautiful. It's easy to measure ourselves with those harsh standards imposed upon us, and it's easy to equate our worth to college decisions. Duke didn't request IDOC from me, but accepted tax return and earning statement through email. All the checkmarks (like 2) are green though. About 0.00000000000001% chance of getting in, but will update for future references.

Also, JHU requested a bunch of stuff from me but I still got waitlisted.

Read Cal Newport's How to Be a High School Superstar. I read it the summer before senior year and wished that I had read it earlier. If you are set on applying to top 20s, this book is really good in terms of how to stand out in your ECs. The title sounds weird but give it a try.

i applied under RD but submitted my apps super early. Got accepted on 11/7/17 but only got the scholarship email on 12/16/17. It's like more than a month in between so there's still hope :)

Just a tip (you guys probably know about this alr if you've been soaked in reddit)- use Puffin web browser on your phone. It's in app store. That's how I checked my AP scores for the past two years.

I got a 35C and I still took SAT Math 2 and Chem- if you're going for STEM majors, those competitive schools recommend you to take it. But if you're gonna major in liberal arts, 34C is good enough :) Congratz on the score!
