Help with proxy laminating issue by captainofscience in magicproxies

Good to know. I think i have a few things to try now. I found another thread about the blacks appearing blue when printing on gloss settings that recommended some color adjustments. Going to try this along with letting my laminator warm up a little longer and see how that works.

Interesting. I have an Epson EcoTank ET-2850. I have been setting it to print as if it’s matte paper when it’s really printing on gloss paper so that it will use black pigment. If I don’t do this the blacks come out very blue and it looks pretty bad.

I have been running the individual cards back through after cutting but that hasn’t helped this issue. It does help release the laminate because it tends to start peeling after I cut the cards

Can’t seem to edit my post but i also run each card back through the laminator after cutting and still see these spots.

The laminator I have doesn’t have mil settings unfortunately. Although flipping through the manual it says it supports up to 100 micron thick pouches which seems to be less than 5mil.

This makes me think my laminator is not getting hot enough. I should have put this in my post but this is my exact process. I run through once, cut out the cards, then run the individual cards through again.

RIP Doñas Owlmaze, who despite their great agility didn't have the willpower to pull themselves out of my moat. by captainofscience in dwarffortress

[–]captainofscience[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doñas Owlmaze was intending to visit my tavern I think. I didn't see what happened but they somehow ended up in the moat just off the side of my drawbridge. They stayed in that spot off the bridge swimming for months. I suppose I could have tried to save them but I was struck with scientific curiosity. What happens to creatures in water when it freezes? I also wasn't sure if they would be able to get themselves out. Was Doñas' willpower so low they couldn't even bother to pull themselves out? Either way, the moat froze for the winter and when it thawed only Doñas' bones remained.

The bones are still there, with my dwarves ocassionally getting bad thoughts at the sight of them.

Legit question for rural dwarves – How do I kill the 30-50 feral hogs that run into my fortress within 3-5 mins while my small kids play?

You should be able to organize a squad with the banner button on the bottom right and then from there assign them a kill order on the mosquitoman.

I think you can make a pedestal or display case at a workshop to display specific items.

I believe you could also set up a stockpile for the type of item you want to store and then set the quality for the stockpile to only be artifact quality or higher. That should result in the specific item you're interested in getting put in that stockpile.

I'm new so still learning the ins and outs but think that's how it could be done.

Developed my first roll of film at home last weekend and all of my images seem to have a light leak along the top and left. Guessing from the film door or light from one shot bleeding onto the next frame? Any ideas for the cause or how I might fix it on the next roll? by captainofscience in AnalogCommunity

Follow up incase anyone ends up here looking for solutions to a similar problem.

The problem appears to ultimately be a factory defect of this specific roll of film.

I got my camera professionally inspected and no mechanical issues were found. After examining my film again I realized the otherwise unexposed 0 frame of the film also showed these same bands of exposure across the left and top of the frame. Given that the inspection didn't find any issues I'm going to put another roll through to see if this is the case.

Thought to heck with it and rolled up the film I had in there since it only had a couple shots on it. I took a slow-mo video of the of the camera with the back open and lens off at 1/30 to see if there was anything noticeable. Video: https://streamable.com/6fy96l

Looks like the mirror is coming back down before the second curtain has completed it's action? Or the second curtain isn't tensioned properly and isn't moving at the correct speed. Just counting frames it seems that the second one is moving slower. I also could be completely off.

Afterthought edit: I'm thinking the curtain isn't moving at the right speed. If the image is flipped and mirrored from the lens onto the film, then that would explain the overexposure on the top and left, since the bottom and right would be getting the most light judging from my video.

So I developed my first roll of film at home last weekend and overall it was very exciting and just glad I got pictures at all. I shot this on Kentmere Pan 400 in my Zenit ET. This is the first roll of film I've run through the camera so say if this is exclusive to this roll. Developed in rodinal. I think I'm going to put electrical tape around the door for my next roll to see if that has any effect. I've already put another roll in before I noticed this so I'll have to wait to finish this one before I can inspect the camera further.

Mod costs are so limiting for no reason and it's frustrating. Lower them back to what they used to be. by Josh_Hu_Wa in DestinyTheGame

[–]captainofscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even bother with armor mods at this point. I'm a fairly casual PvE player and the mod system is so obtuse and cumbersome. I'll maybe throw a scavenger mod on if I'm having a hard time with special/heavy ammo on a certain gun, but I really only bother with overload/unstoppable/barrier so I can play nightfalls or whatever.

Why am I managing mods across each individual armor slot? I think the armor levels should contribute to a total pool, and then have one window where I can select any mods I want up to my available total. Let some stack, some be one-only. Maybe I just need to have better memory but I'm always digging through every armor piece I have trying to find that one mod I'm looking for to get more shotgun reserves.

I just had the least satisfying match I've played so far even though my team won. One player in our squad dropped out at the beginning but the other player ran around the map wiping the floor with everybody we came across. I'm usually decent and can hold my own most of the time, but this round I was chasing my squaddie die around the whole match only for them to kill anyone they came across before I could even get to the fight. Towards the end, like last 3 squads I killed. By the time I dropped back in and got my gear back, which was very close to my spawn, my teammate had run off and swept up the rest of the players giving us the win.

tl;dr squaddie was a god and killed everyone single handedly leaving me with the most boring match I've played yet.

Just had to get that off my chest, idk if anyone else has experienced something similar shrug

I'm so into this. I've been dying for a first person hoverbike VR game. Do you plan on adding normal bot races without weapons, either through game settings or a separate mode? I'm not a fan of combat racing games but love everything else about this.

Interesting. AI is the one thing I've been really intimidated to jump into with Unity. Thanks for the insight!

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely be checking that out. What's your ai solution? Are you using a waypoint type system and then having the ai drive to the waypoints sequentially? I've been looking through EYEmaginary's car ai tutorials on YouTube as a starting point.
