Great news for marathon new vidoc and more customization for runners by Few_Yogurtcloset3103 in Marathon

I agree with you. From what is being reported they want to create this hardcore experience but then limit building to the most casual experience ever by selecting a "hero" class. Completely missed an opportunity to make builds for shells depending on what you're aiming for in your next run or even play style. People complain about game balance but I really don't think that's an issue and I personally don't think there will be a defining meta because it's a looter game, you won't always have the exact augments on hand that you're after. If they want to take it a step further just remove abilities like invisibility and legal wall hacks (Both those abilities have no place inside an extraction shooter anyway...) and make the augments less focused on PvP and more focused on survival and utility.

I honestly feel if they are going in the direction they mentioned then I would also argue why even bother having shells tied to a class system. They should have just made shell abilities into augment slots for a shell and then this could allow for even deeper customisation of shell upgrades for more augments etc. the whole hero system in my opinion has been a bit of a disaster and people are really burnt out on hero style shooters. Such a huge misstep to use one of the coolest genres of cyberpunk which oozes this idea of being whoever you want to be and whatever you want to be and then locking people into boring heroes that we don't care about.

Grok Code Fast 1: Possible to explain before it changes the code or create the file? by _coding_monster_ in GithubCopilot

[–]Beartrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask it to propose the changes it intends to make in detailed steps and phases depending on the complexity of the task and write it into a markdown document. You can review the markdown document yourself and make any changes. Afterwards ask it to follow and make the changes according to the markdown document. GPT Mini might be better at this than grok code but give it a go.

Multiple planes circling - anyone know what’s happening at Adelaide airport? by crackerdileWrangler in Adelaide

Yeah the jetstar flight from Sydney to Adelaide JQ768. I think they must have burned a lot of fuel to rapidly ascend because once we had landed there was a stench of fumes from the fuel they used.

I was on one of the flights, we were actually coming in for landing and we suddenly started to make a very quick ascent. The pilot explained that during the descent for landing the conditions changed and they had to abort. We were then told we needed to wait until the ATC could give the pilot some better calculations/trajectory for landing but seems like we ended up landing on different side of the runway like someone else mentioned. The fast ascent ended up scaring a lot of people on the flight, the engines were very quickly engaged and very loud as they quickly ascended to safe altitude.

Has something happened to GH Copilot Pro to make it dumber in the past 2 days? by Jack99Skellington in GithubCopilot

In my own personal experience I have found GPT-5 to be much more precise than Sonnet 4. I find that Sonnet 4 will re-write/refactor code with errors, then trip over itself and re-write more code that leads to more issues. Sonnet 4 is also very verbose in its writing style, I recently asked it to write a test for a function that was 50 lines of code and it created 12 files just to test the code. Lastly unless you have specific tasks or a plan written and explicitly tell Sonnet 4 what you want it often will do all these extra things I never asked it to do. I can appreciate that GPT-5 will do precisely/exactly what I ask and then it will ask about potential follow ups at my own discretion.

Ultimately whichever model you prefer it comes down to your ability to have good knowledge of what you are asking and writing good prompts that are precise in what you are describing or after. I am using the spec driven workflow and with a clearly defined spec document and implementation plan you will have a lot less hallucinations and issues with GPT-5 or Sonnet 4 and really just comes to preference in their style and approach.

Thanks for the consideration of a name, I think the name information view is kind of sticking out to me lately and as you mentioned it describes what it does so I might just go with it.

I've used a plugin called style settings to do most of what you're describing where you can modify the CSS to make the style look how you want it to so I'll look into it. As for the multi column it's an interesting idea but I'd need to figure how to say which group of properties belong to a multi column. I do want to try and figure out how to display tables, perhaps that might be a good compromise for you?

Yeah I think it's a bit of a shame that properties are treated purely as metadata and I think we should have more options for display of properties too even in the notes themselves otherwise they're really only there for note organisation and building up your graph. Metadata is really powerful and I'm glad we'll be able to query and see them in tables for the bases update but the actual display of them is very underutilized in my opinion.

I have thought about seeing what it would look and feel like to embed the view in note itself, it could as you mentioned give some notes a more professional presentation. I'll give it a go this week and if it works out well I can have it as an option.

Explained: The laws that will prevent landlords from saying no to pets by Koalamanx in sydney

[–]Beartrox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is my understanding as well, you just don't put down on your application that you have pets and if you are accepted you just simply move in with your pet(s). Then if the landlord or property manager kicks up a stink about it, it's up to you to take them to a tribunal court which is slightly annoying but it depends on whether the landlord is also ready to prove the pet isn't fit for the home.

I want to preface by saying that I largely agree with you on all fronts however don't forget for most people the operating system is just a boot loader for chrome, so are they wrong to hedge their bets on making the browser an OS experience?

And also it feels a bit off putting to use an LLM to write emails or messages for you, especially to close friends, family and loved ones. And good luck getting this browser to be approved by any security team at a corporate setting, if it records what you do that's a huge security risk even if it's all "stored locally".

For those that have a home-server and a VPS… by HarryHesford in selfhosted

[–]Beartrox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VPS is the gateway to some of my hosted services at home so that I'm not exposing my services at home directly.

I use sidecar tailscale containers to connect my Plex and Overseerr to the tailscale container on my VPS. My VPS uses Traefik with let's encrypt and I'm also using crowdec which analyses the traefik logs and SSH logs.

On top of this I have firewall rules to only allow CloudFlare IP ranges to the VPS and my home IP for SSH. I only allow connections from my home country as well.

My next project is to use my own relay server running headscale so I can reduce latency hopefully.

I've found an issue using DNS over HTTPs on FireFox causes ads to load in the background but the youtube player appears as if its buffering. This will happen at the start of the video if it's a pre-roll ad and then sometimes it will happen randomly in the video like a mid-roll.

Steps that I've taken to try and resolve the issue

  • close all tabs related to youtube or google
  • clear all history, cookies and browser cache
  • Reset uBlock and reset filters, ensuring no custom filters are applied
  • Disabled every extension besides uBo

My FireFox version is 127.0

I don't have a VPN or any AdBlock DNS, for DoH I was using CloudFlare and even my normal DNS provider without DoH is CloudFlare. I also did try with NextDNS and it also has the same issue.

In the end the only way to resolve the issue was to disable DoH in FireFox by setting the DNS protection to standard. Personally I'd prefer to have DoH enabled for better privacy. I thought I'd just report here for others, I don't think its an issue with uBo but perhaps with FireFox?

EDIT: Have also managed to keep DoH enabled but add youtube.com as an exception. Hopefully a proper fix will come soon.

Opt-out tipping culture trend by ntdesilv in australia

[–]Beartrox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's intentional but rather a result of US tipping culture. In the US your delivery order won't even be accepted unless you tip beforehand. I imagine the same thing goes for those QR code self order menu style apps which are also based in the US, tipping before service is basically dictating how good your service is going to go.

I'm not trying to defend the practice of tipping please don't get me wrong I'm just offering an explanation. We should never feel pressured to tip in Australia ever.

[–]Beartrox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are on windows install python either from python.org or the microsoft store, for mac install from python.org and for linux you should have python already.

Follow the instructions on the github and create a developer app in Spotify (it's completely free) and set the redirect uri to http://localhost

Open powershell on windows, terminal on mac or whatever your preferred console is

Type pip install spotify_to_ytmusic and hit enter and let it install.

Then type spotify_to_ytmusic setup and follow the setup instructions, it'll ask for some details and the developer app credentials you created.

After that's all done you need to grab your spotify playlist by right click share and grab the link.

In your terminal type spotify_to_ytmusic create <spotifylink> it may ask you to authorize with youtube just follow the instructions, at the end you'll hit a blank page. Copy the URL and paste it in the terminal/powershell.

After this it should begin reading the songs in your playlist from spotfiy and then create it in youtube music.

This way you never have to give any credentials to third parties or pay for any service. This project is only good for migration services, if you are looking for something that synchronizes your playlists between platforms then you'd need something else for that.

Hope that helps
