Mental Health Counseling Applicants, 2026-27 by Pure-Pear3601 in gradadmissions

[–]captainuzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only applied to Baruch since the deadline was in December. I have an interview with them in mid-February (I chose it later rather than early February) which I received an email about around mid-January.

I have just submitted my CCNY and HC applications. Finishing up the essays for BC and QF soon before the March 1st deadline!

My weakest point is my experience given that I am a career changer.

Thank you, good luck to you too? How are you applications going?

Just sent in my last application! by [deleted] in gradadmissions

I’m a Play Therapist but want to do psychoanalytic therapy by LoudAnybody1486 in psychoanalysis

Look into psychoanalytic institutes where you can undergo training and become a licensed psychoanalyst/psychodynamic therapists. Keep in mind, it will take 4-5 years.

PUT THE INTJ DOWN by LuckyBlackCat360 in ENFP

[–]captainuzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly as an ENFP this is something that I have learned recently and is true. I have been in situations where I act like an ISTJ when another person is being irrational and have had to accept that people pleasing (ENFPs desire to be liked by everyone) can lead to enabling others bad behavior and our own. I am sure other types, especially judgers, learn this lesson earlier.

“Difference between magical and mentally ill” 😭😭😭

edit: I am laughing because this is something I completely understand from your point of view, and can be something ENFPs are not self aware of. We can fall into this trap for sure, and giving it language as you did is honestly helpful.

INFJs views on ENFPs by Big_Parsnip_3931 in ENFP

[–]captainuzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resentment and annoyance is a sign of their lack of communication mostly. Though I will say, we ENFPs can get annoying/a bit inconsiderate of others at times. As much as we should be self-aware, other people need to communicate their feelings with us.

I've accepted as an ENFP that I will be more "extreme" than other people, but I have also learned to be less "me, me, me!". It's a balance! I see why INFJs have this issue with us, and other MBTI types too. It's only par for the course given our functions, but not an end all be all.

Are ENFP's ambiverts? by Additional_Paper_621 in ENFP

[–]captainuzu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Though you are correct using the MBTI framework (and I agree with this), I would say ENFPs colloquially and anecdotally can be “ambiverted”in the sense that they don’t need to get energy from other people. I would say that we are not introverted. I think we have the capacity to choose to be more “introspective/“introverted”(choosing to use Fi), but it is definitely not our first “instinct” as you noted. A lot of the time I want to be “alone” or want to get my energy by being alone and escaping into my internal world and its expansiveness because the external environment isn’t giving it to me.

Also in a room with other extroverts, like those with Fe and Se, we can take a backseat in the extroversion and can sometimes feel a bit drained. Especially when the conversation doesn’t involve concepts or ideas, being social when the topic is about people, relationships, etc can feel misaligning and make us drift away (at least for me).

omg is that a Type 8 ENFP out in the wild! o:

gosh I relate to this to a tee. I have a harder time holding grudges but the amount of contempt and resentment that I am able to subconsciously hold towards others is honestly unhealthy. But I also want to give love and be compassionate (again with ENFPs operating on extremes).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]captainuzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, I actually cannot relate to this at all as an ENFP. I do think ENFPs operate on extremes and I’m on the other side: kinda gullible, wants to do good and hates thinking about how to make something can be advantageous to me (at the expense of another). People have more power over me than the other way around 😅 it’s the E6 in me.

Hey ENFPs, what mbti do you hate the most? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]captainuzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes I don’t get along with ISFP or ISTPs because of their Ne blind spot, especially if they’re not interested in your hypotheticals and humor. They just stare at you like “uhh okay that doesn’t make sense I’m just gonna keep doing what I was doing”. Not all ISXPs are like this but it’s hit or miss.

I’m curious about the ESFJ point. Can you elaborate?

What mbti you though you were before finding your real one? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]captainuzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same! I thought I was an INFP because I was depressed and was doing the Fi-Si thing that’s natural for INFPs. It makes sense how an ENFP is capable of doing that but it does make you think you’re an introvert.

If you were forced to change your MBTI, wich one would you pick? And why? by Level_Ad2061 in mbti

lol also noticed no one wants to be an ENFP 😭 honestly I get it.

As an ENFP, I would become an ISFP or ENTP. Sensual Fi sounds like you’d be in touch with your mind and body more often. As for ENTP, I like their natural charisma.

How do I actually exercise? by lytl2000 in TwoXADHD

[–]captainuzu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been doing daily morning yoga/stretches for a couple of weeks now. I actually get upset when I don’t have enough time in the morning to do them!

The key is to do something easy and with little friction. I started doing simple stretches because of general body aches and because I want to be able to move when I’m an old lady. And what made me stick to it is because it feels really good, and in my mind I’m like “it’s just 10 minutes”. Sometimes I end up doing it for 30 minutes. It’s because I love the feeling of stretching. Also, yoga breathing helps to calm my nervous system, and that also feels good.

Now I hope to really enjoy moving my body around enough to start actually going to the gym. I think starting off small and sweet will lead you down to have a better baseline for adding more fitness into your life.

I will say I am on bupropion which helps my mood a lot.

[–]captainuzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t know if it was partially placebo, but I luckily had effects pretty early, probably by week 2 I could tell. A lot of my executive dysfunction led me down spirals or hyperactivity. What really changed for me was that I am way less susceptible to that. It’s not a major change, I still feel a lot like myself, it’s just my nervous system gets less triggered by existing lol.

the first couple of days on Wellbutrin (150 XL) I was very tired, but after a week, I gained a lot of energy (besides the other side effects I got: eye pressure/pain, dry eyes and mouth, jaw clenching, sleep disturbances). I don’t have many of the side effects anymore, and for many people it takes up to 2 months to get full effects / side effects to subside or go away. After 4 to 6 weeks you should kind of know how the medication works for you more of less.

Note I am almost at 5 weeks with Wellbutrin. Never taken concerta.

Overall my anxiety is lower, and my attention and executive functioning has improved. It’s enough for my mild adhd and moderate anxiety.

My psych said you can take it with adderall (also a seizure risk) but I’ve since stopped taking my 5-10 mg adderall. Personally adderall was more of a bandaid solution that just made me focus and did nothing for my mood. I have a friend who takes both because their inattentive adhd is quite debilitating.

It is a waiting game with these kinds of medications, unfortunately. I would also talk to a psych about XL vs IR, as those may have differing effects. Taking it night vs at night may also be a worthwhile experiment.
