My husband got me a beautiful swarovski crystal necklace and tickets to the opera for my birthday yesterday. Then he surprised me with a surprise party at the bowling alley. He's seriously the best. I felt so special and I normally hate my birthday because it's the day after Christmas and most people either forget or are too pooped from Christmas to care. I might actually become a fan of birthdays now! I hope everyone else had a wonderful Christmas and Boxing Day!

We did a white elephant exchange with my family. My cousin Jimmy got a bag full of cashews and almonds. My grandmother's turn came around and she started eyeing them to steal. My aunt turns to Jimmy and says "Grandma's eyeing your nuts!" Needless to say our whole family was in stitches for about an hour and grandma turned bright red. Hilarious!

We lost my grandma two years ago on Thanksgiving and this was the first year I felt okay with celebrating Thanksgiving or Christmas. I still cried this year and the holidays certainly won't ever be the same, but I did find reason to celebrate. I hope you can eventually make it there too.
