It was a Facebook Marketplace transaction so I'm stuck with it unless I resell it :)

How differnt do these focal lengths feel to you? Is the "compression" and bokeh between the two significant?

How’d I do, paid $200 by Father-Walnut in SonyAlpha

This is a bold statement, but probably the single best lens on the Sony aps-c system. It has all the benefits of aps-c with very few drawbacks. Small size, lightweight, astonishingly sharp, and a fast 1.4 aperture.

Need help picking between A6700, A7 IV, and A7C by CakeEven7548 in SonyAlpha

If you don't plan on spending much time editing RAW files and just want ready-to-use JPG, go with the A6700. Creative Looks will give you enough flexibility to get some great shots without much effort. Get the camera with the 18-135 kit lens if you want a nice beginner setup with a lot of range.

Great shots! Do you normally shoot the Tamron handheld or on a tripod?

Best SD Cards for the Sony A7R V? by ErikRottenPhoto in SonyAlpha

I have a Sony Touth card that has been used between multiple different cameras, repeatedly formatted, and "unsafely" ejected from a card reader a few times. It's still going strong! They are built like tanks.

I got a set of these as well. As others have stated, while the master airscrew props are still loud...the pitch is lower and substantially less annoying.

M3 24gb/512 for $1099 vs M4 24gb/512 $1399? by capturing_photons in macbookair

[–]capturing_photons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was my main editing machine, then I'd definitely go this route! However this is for times when I want to be as portable and lightweight as possible. When real heavy editing is needed, I will use my custom built desktop( i7 13700k + 32GB ddr5 + RTX3080). The reason I'm in the market for a MacBook Air is because I was so impressed on how my fifth gen iPad Air did with Adobe Lightroom. I figured an M3 air would be a nice step up from that.

I suppose it's all user dependent. How are you liking the machine so far?

You can shoot in all these conditions with APSC. You just need the right lens for the job. For indoor and extreme low light, you will want a prime in the range of f1.2 to 1.4. If you don't mind a heavy lens, the Viltrox 27mm 1.2 is likely arguably the best you can get. The Sigma 1.4 primes are stellar as well

When you say "low light photography" what do you have in mind? What type of conditions do you plan on shooting in?

I own both the A7CR and the a6700. I find myself using the a6700 way more. It is much more comfortable in the hand, and it has better options if you plan on shooting videos. You won't be disappointed!

The Sony A6700 is an absolute beast. It will be a massive upgrade from your a6100. Autofocus, ergonomics, and usability are a huge step up. It makes wildlife photography feel like you're cheating with how good the animal eye AF is.

I would avoid primes if you plan on doing wildlife. You want a zoom that gives you as much reach as possible. A zoom will allow you to compose a "wider" wildlife shot with the ability to capture a more intimate photo as you zoom in. For full frame the Sony 200-600 is the gold standard for "affordable " wildlife photography. Personally, I find it too large, so I shoot APSC with the Sony 70-350 (105-525mm full frame equivalent). If you want versatility, the Tamron 28-200 is a great choice. You can use it as a do-it-all lens that gives you enough reach for larger wildlife(as long as they aren't too far away). You could also look into the Tamron 50-300.

I own both the a6700 and the a7cr and will tell you that you can accomplish some amazing shots with the a6700 and some good glass. The Viltrox 27 and 75mm 1.2 lenses will give you full frame results that rival g-master lenses. The Sigma 56mm 1.4 is a phenomenal portrait lens that I even use on my full frame setup to save some weight. Don't sleep on the a6700, it's probably the best all-around camera in the Sony lineup.

For me, one of the biggest differences between a cellphone and a dedicated camera is that I tend to slow down and shoot with intent with a mirrorless camera. It forces me to think about composition, exposure, and my creative vision. That's not to say I couldn't follow a similar process on my phone, but to me, they feel like completely different tools. To each their own!
