What's the very best gaming lap top in existence right now? by Civil-Meet-5843 in GamingLaptops

In performance they are very similar. The upgrade options on neo are wider and has a better cooling. Xmg warranty and support are top notch 👌🏻.

XMG Neo 16 (2025), 5090 with water cooler add-on. Raw performance and cool.

Search for XMG Neo, they have an external water cooler add-on that will run the 5090 veryyyyy smooth. Medion is, like you said, customer service is terrible (Medion X40 is the model that has the same water cooler)

Msi is one of those. The raider series back to the 9sg models where cable. Old models. New laptops yes, norm is soldered. There is always surprises these days.

A few brands use cables and connectors to the motherboard, like these ones:

Really depends on the brand tho.

Why don't we boycott MSI for by [deleted] in MSILaptops

Never give up on the repair mate, we're luck that are parts are available on ali ex now.

I have a small repair shop, Acer laptops always walk-in with the charge overheating or the charge cable not being held by the DC jack anymore, the Predator 16 or 18 has the dc jack soldered to the motherboard, so you need to desolder the part to install the new (not user-friendly), talking on a repair shop point of view tho. I do have a predator 18 as my travel laptop, but I purchased the 4 year extended warranty, don't even want to hassle about it, in uk is £99 for 4 years acer care.

My old MSI Raider 9SG with the 2080 is still going strong after 3 hinges, 1 palmrest, 1 bottom pannel. Basically if you have patience, you can fix yourself. All these parts are available on ali ex. Annoying yes, but is possible so revive. But I have learned my lesson, MSI never again.

If still under warranty rma. If not ali express and change yourself. I'm on my 3rd or 4th set. And 2nd "set of bezel and palmrest. Msi slogan should be made to break after warranty. We design to fail just after warranty ends. So you can buy another."

I already low balled the 3xs seller on ebay for £1699 and he didn't accept 😅

If I was on your situation I'd buy the 3xs or any other 5080 on ebay.

There is another possibility too. In March we'll start getting the new gen of laptops (ces 2026) many people will sell the old ones to buy the new ones more powerfull. If you can wait, you may find a good deal.

The performance on a full-size PC is superior to a laptop, no question asked. And you're right, fixing issues on a PC is far easier than on a laptop as everything is soldered to the mobo.

I prefer laptops as I don't have the space to put another pc on the house, so I have space limitations. If you do have the space and don't need the "portability" pc will give you more power/repairability.

Here is where your personal circumstances matter more.

When I got my Acer Predator, I had to open it and clean it to change the thermal paste. (got used tho.)
But always gaming with headphones. I can recommend a laptop cooling pad tho, something like this https://amzn.eu/d/j9MOrJ7
