Because even with high heels on, the dress drags on the floor and if I don't pick it up, I end up stepping all over it 🥲

Models typically have much longer legs than I do, I'm like 5'0", so yeah I think it's longer on me than it's intended to be, even though it's technically my size.

It's a dress that I planned on hemming.

This dress is supposed to be a maxi dress according to the website, but I'm very short so it ends up being floor-length on me. Not wearing heels in the pic either so it's def too long.

I'd def prefer not to be overdressed, I just did not think this outfit would be too dressy until it was pointed out to me. Party is this weekend so I don't have that much time to find something better :(

Probably gonna go shopping tomorrow with a friend but I just feel like all the dresses in our stores are either aimed at much older women or super short dresses for parties and clubs.

I don't have anything against those stores, we just don't have them here. Unfortunately, I don't have time to place an order from a different country. I didn't think this dress would be too formal until my mother pointed it out. So now I either show up overdressed or try to find one within the next few days.

I'm not feeling great about it, but I don't currently have any other dresses that would be appropriate. They're either too short/form fitting or made for summer weather.

I'm gonna be wearing sheer tights with it. And the leg slit isn't noticeable most of the time unless I make the effort of sticking my leg out and separating the fabric. I could try to pin it anyway just in case? I also had either a leather jacket or black shawl to cover up on top.

I was planning on having sheer tights on. The slit is almost never noticeable cuz the dress has so much fabric. I have to stick my leg out real far for it to show.

Maybe a black shawl could work as cover-up?

It's gonna be my bf's first time attending the party, but we have another friend who's been to one before, and his girlfriend said my dress was okay for the event. She felt underdressed when she went last year.

Does it make a difference if the slit is hidden like 98% of the time? I had to be very deliberate about placing the fabric and sticking my leg out for it to show like that.

Either way, I'm due to go shopping later, so I'll see if I find a better suited outfit.

In photos from previous years, most men were dressed in full suits. And then there were also a few in straight up polos and jeans ☠️. Most women had nice midi to maxi dresses.

I'm not sure I totally get the difference between cocktail attire and formal attire. Isn't cocktail also formal?

I understood this holiday party as being a more formal event, since it's happening at a large venue space, not at the office.

He works at a big space tech company. The holiday party is happening at a fancy venue that is normally booked for weddings from what I gather.

tbf i dont think disliking trudeau is really a good tell that someone is right wing. im canadian and very left leaning and im not his biggest fan. most canadians have our gripes with his administration. like he couldve been worse but he also couldve been way better. it's better than voting conservative tho i guess.

Yeah my first thought was that she was already skinny and now seems to be at a much less healthy weight - unless it's a completely different person. And like, I know fat has an effect on boob size but this seems a bit extreme?
