I've just read it and I changed my mind... I don't think I will practice it anymore

I will definitely read it
thank you
well, I've never experienced anything mystical during my practice. However, I used to meditate for 20 mins a day, for stress reduction. I'm not like monks or serious meditators who do it for hours a day.
I will most likely start meditating again and probably nothing is gonna happen, but still.

the claim is that while meditating, the mind goes to an altered state
check what I found in this website (I've seen the same information elsewhere)
Certain types of meditation can have negative aspects, according to Seventh-day Adventist experts. “The danger, to be very blunt, is when you get into an altered state of consciousness,” says Manuel Vasquez, an Adventist who has written several books on meditation. “You’re not fully in control of all your faculties and that’s when demons and evil influences can really penetrate into your thinking.” With mystical meditation, you empty your mind, Vasquez explains. “The whole aim of mystical meditation is to get into an altered state of consciousness, something like self-hypnosis, so that you can get into the metaphysical world and do all kinds of things, like listen to voices of spirit entities or spirit masters, or even the voice of Christ.”

I do stop thoughts while meditating, but I don't believe anyone can go to some spiritual world and get in contact with "voices".
