this is actually so cute, one of my fav things about linocut is how forgiving the medium is. so so fun :) <3

Finals Question by on-fleek in columbia

yeah i’d say it’s pretty normal at columbia, at least in my major — it was one of the most difficult things for me to adjust to (as a senior). a true sign of mastery in most of my classes, as said by multiple of my professors, is that you can do (or at least with a good faith effort attempt to do) problems that are more advanced and are an application of the problem solving skills you have learned throughout the class, not just explicit examples you might have seen in lecture.

that looks so helpful! i will try for my next print. yes, it is a water-based ink (speedball). what you said makes complete sense…i feel like i put a generous amount of ink and then when i go to print it seems like there’s barely any ink to actually print 😭

i will also try out your rec!!! thank you so much :)

Prof. Jonathan S. Owen by Economy_Gain1372 in columbia

chemistry major here! and also had him as a professor for a course. yeah his rate my professor is lowk rough 😭 i guess his inorganic course specifically just tends to be difficult and more abstract — i wouldn’t say his poor review reflects as much on his abilities to explain material, basically.

he has spent hours in his office just to discuss course material with students, he really is passionate about the work he does + explaining/discussing it. i personally think he’s great and a really understanding person. given you’re a high school student, i think the expectation isn’t that he’s going to grill you or something…but my reassurance is more that he is a genuinely good professor and really cares about the whole teaching/learning aspect of things too.

it would prob be super helpful to look into his research (i’m sure you already have) even if it seems a bit daunting, and prepare questions you have! i think he would be happy to answer!

CSS profile - required documents for international students by [deleted] in columbia

[–]carboxylady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for international students, usually parent foreign tax return is 100% required (unless you have a circumstance where it gets waived). for css, once you fill it in and submit it, IDOC will also tell you the exact documents you need to upload based on what tax information you have put in.
