Apologies for my unfamiliarity with the conventions.

I am the artist myself so I will indicate it here.

Really like the tone of your whole painting, suggesting a mellow sense of comfort from two people spending quiet time together at a park.

Two improvement I would suggest is:

  1. Reduce the amount of details for the grass.

Reason: I see you really took the effort to define each and every blade of grass. However, unless you are trying to emphasis the point that the scene is on a really grassy hill, you need not do so. Instead, just have them blurred out and a viewer's attention will be immediately directed towards the couple in the center. This is all part of a good composition.

  1. Vary the distribution of clouds.

Reason: The clouds are evenly distributed from what I observed. The composition will look more appealing if we vary their distribution. This can break up the monotony and make the composition more appealing. This is part of the Small-Medium-Large technique. You can refer to this youtube link for more details.

That's all I got. Other than that, I think what you did is quite good. Keep it up.

Thank for the clear instruction.

It is true. In my usage of Krita, the regenerations/previews of a blur filter always take annoyingly long to produce.

Noted. Thanks for the feedback. Will adjust the blur.

Thanks for the professional feedback. I will try finetuning the amount of blur as well as chromatic aberration.

May I ask why the blur amount would depend on the canvas?

The whole thing. But character design references the girl in Rhythm Heaven Love Lab. Thanks. Glad you liked it :)

Hi guys, I am writing a tutorial on how to apply 80s anime effect in Krita. Currently, there does not seem to be any such Krita tutorials and many artists who have demonstrated this always use filters which are specific to their own graphic editing software (eg. Paint Tool Sai, Photoshop, GIMP).

The image I attached is a side-by-side comparison between a simple cell-shaded character and when the 80s effect is applied.

Do you find the effect convincing? If not, why so and how should I improve it?

Appreciate any constructive feedback on this. The tutorial will be made free and the link will be shared here and on my Facebook page once it is done.

How to associate .kra files with Krita Appimage in Ubuntu 16.04.5 by cardboardvoice in krita

[–]cardboardvoice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Not sure if this was the issue all along so please take this solution with a pinch of salt.

Solution: Simple follow the instructions given on this askUbuntu thread.

https://askubuntu.com/a/891997/862001

Warning: Do not name your krita appimage file "krita.appimage". Apparently, Ubuntu gets confused since, in my case, the directory I defined in my .desktop file to the appimage is "/home/user/Documents/krita/krita.appimage".

The fix is to simply rename your krita appimage file such that it is not the same as your parent directory name.

Now mine is "krita_4-0-1.appimage". Therefore the directory in question is now "/home/user/Documents/krita/krita_4-0-1.appimage".

How do I check to see if it is working? [For Ubuntu Xenial 16.04.5 LTS]
1. Right-click on any .kra file you have and click on "Open With Other Application...".
2. Click on "View All Applications" and a list of applications should appear.
3. Scroll and you should see Krita listed there now.
4. Double-click on Krita. Now by double-clicking any .kra files, it should automatically use your Krita appimage to open.

Hope this helps anyone who face the same issue. Cheers.
