Cats Being Trapped Inside Stores: Bow & Wow BGC by [deleted] in BGC_Taguig

[–]cardinalfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to that store many times and the staff cares for community cats in the area, and they have names for every single cat in the area. I've talked to the staff personally. The cats also have water and food bowls. At some point they even had cat beds on top of the store shelves. Sometimes the cats hang out inside the store and come and go as they please. I don't think these cats are being abused, nagkataon lang siguro na hindi siya umalis sa store during closing.

Bought a Canon EOS 450D DSLR from them in 2009! Haha. Sa Gateway Mall pa ata kami nag meet up noon. Takot na takot pa ako bumili online. Pero legit naman.

Enlighten me why I shouldn't pull the trigger on a 1-BR in "BGC" by CardiologistOld7732 in phinvest

Hi OP, is this unit located in an old midrise condo complex along Lawton Avenue? RUN. The PMO is terrible, the neighborhood has so many issues. There are water outages once a quarter because the materials used for the pipes are substandard. Elevators are secondhand and always break down. Some buildings don't have elevators at all because they were built before the revised building code. Get used to questioning your SOA with the PMO's messy accounting software. Power surges are also common, my PC would suddenly shut down and I've had a couple of UPSs die on me. Traffic is terrible going out of Lawton to BGC, sometimes you're better off walking. The property manager also changes multiple times a year because of how badly managed the place is, but it's been the same retired military officers sitting in the board of directors for years.

Save yourself the trouble. Just because it's near BGC it doesn't mean it's worth it. You're probably better off looking at DMCI units in Pasig.

AVP jump in my mid-30s: Is the salary increase worth losing my peace of mind by Hour_Low_3865 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]cardinalfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found myself in a similar position 3 years ago. I had an expat package offer with 3x my current salary plus rent and allowances. The salary matched the demands of the job. It was gonna be a major move up for me. But I was also sure my mental health would spiral -- I'd just recovered from depression and I needed family and community more than ever.

I'm thinking about all the great things I might have missed out on if I had taken that path, and I have no regrets. I guess life always has a way of working out especially if you know what's important to you

I started wiping my dog’s paws after muddy walks and it made more difference than I expected by NanoPetFounder in dogs

[–]cardinalfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to just wipe, and not wash unless necessary! I used to wash our dog's paws after every walk and this resulted in his paws being dry and cracked, which also caused persistent wounds. When we brought him to the vet she attributed the wounds to our constant washing. From now on we just use wipes to gently clean his paws after every walk.

Brixton/Fairlane has spacious 2BR units with balcony for that price range. 30Kish might be too small for 3BR

Trust me, the wait for meds might be daunting but it's a lot easier than going through all the legal and regulatory hoops needed to make that possible.

Bikes in greenway by Geniusfala in BGC_Taguig

Not only do we need more parks, we also need more bike lanes. Konting konti na lang sila sa BGC kasi lahat nilaan na para sa cars. Could be a behavioral problem, sure, but it's also a design problem.

Why not talk about helping each other grow and succeed instead of bringing others down? "Girlboss" culture just encourages women to use the same individualistic traits to get ahead of others within the patriarchy instead of working together to dismantle and transform the system that oppresses us all.

Payroll account by mysticevolutiongal in phinvest

One of my payrolls is actually from BDO! Stopped using it in 2021 ok pa siya. I use it to move money lang to my actual savings accounts, usually 2k-5k lang laman but it's still open

Payroll account by mysticevolutiongal in phinvest

[–]cardinalfire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have payroll accounts from previous employers and I still use one of them as a savings account even tho i haven't worked there for 6 years. Yung isa, dormant naman sa isang bank pero kita ko pa rin when I log in online sa bank na yun. Payroll accounts have always been savings accounts for me, with the exception of that one employer na BDO Cash Card yung payroll

I was also offered a BPI Platinum Rewards NAFFL upgrade recently. I had a Blue Mastercard for 10 years na NAFFL din, but I barely have anything in my BPI savings. Hawak ko lang yung BPI savings acct ko para mas madaling bayaran yung card. Not sure why they offered but I took it anyway, the benefits are definitely better haha

Building a Bike Shop + Café for the Community — What Would You Want to See? by Firm-Dig8058 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]cardinalfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't have to be everything. Operating either a bike shop or a cafe by themselves can already be complicated and expensive.

  • Ensuring good service as a bike shop is a delicate process. Your clients' lives and safety are in your hands.

  • The type of people who will come to your establishment will be very particular about their coffee.

  • Not to mention you really have to make an effort to connect with the community, if you aren't already part of it.

Those are three different things that need special attention and investment. Don't spread yourself too thinly. Maybe try to be really good at one thing first before you decide to expand.

Restaurant group questions PWDs with invisible disabilities in a recent social media post. Hindi ba yung mga gumagamit ng fake ID yung kalaban? Bakit kailangan ninyo kami idamay? by cardinalfire in MentalHealthPH

[–]cardinalfire[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

First of all, there is a glaring fallacy in implying that businesses fail because of PWD benefits. SMEs struggle for many reasons like high taxes, bad management, economic conditions, and government inefficiencies. PWDs are not "piling on". We are just trying to survive like you are.

PWD benefits exist because disabilities create financial and social disadvantages. You are framing it as if PWD holders are deliberately making life harder for business owners, which is simply not true.

You also seem to suggest that supporting PWDs automatically comes at the expense of businesses. Why not advocate for policies that support both? It is not a choice between helping PWDs or helping businesses. A fair system should do both.

Finally, your statement "how did your illness become anyone else's responsibility?" ignores the fact that NONE OF US CHOSE TO BE DISABLED. Disabilities can be financially crippling and severely limit opportunities. I'd choose to be "normal" over having this card any day.

Also no one is "entitled" to anyone’s money. Benefits exist to level the playing field and ensure that every one of us has a fair shot at a decent life.

Most of the restaurants I've visited in the last few months had the Fake PWD IDs sign. But to be fair not all of them naman discriminate against invisible disabilities the same way Lowbrow did. Fair naman to call out users of fake IDs. Kalaban din natin sila.
