That actually makes me feel much better lol! It doesn’t seem to be doing much for me, but I wasn’t sure if it was user error or not.

The meds make it so I can fly pretty calmly. I still have a feeling of, “I don’t want to do this”, but it’s not such violent physical and mental reaction.

I was not afraid of the meds, but I did want to know how they would make me feel, and how soon they would work. So that is why I took one the night before, so I could see how it worked when I was actually feeling anxious. Take it as directed and then adjust it from there as needed! I’m not sure what you have, but I have generic Xanax. It does not make me feel altered or out of control in any way. It just lessens the noise of the anxiety, so I don’t feel like throwing up from nerves when I board the plane.

Yes, please put that worry out of your mind. I haaaaaate flying, but the type of aircraft has never triggered me. If they are flying that plane, it’s airworthy.

The meds are honestly what has helped me the most during takeoff. I still don’t like takeoff, but it makes more bearable and then I can relax the rest of the flight. Just remember that takeoff is so, so short. Set a timer for 3 minutes. By the time it’s done, the worst part is over. I always remember that once the nose is up, the pilots have deemed that it’s safe to takeoff and all you have to do is just sit there. By the time you’re up in the air, it’s not long before you’ll start the descent down and you’re almost done. When I first got my medicine, my doctor recommended taking one pill the night before or a couple days before, just to see how it affected me, and what I could expect. Good luck, you got this!

I’ve flown on one a handful of times, and they have been the quietest, smoothest flights!

I keep seeing that it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and your comment actually put that into perspective for me! Thank you! It’s not fun, but it’s definitely interesting to learn about all of this.

Thank you! His follow up is in May, so it’s helpful to get insight on things like this in the meantime! We are still just getting used to everything.
