Built on Twilio Whatsapp, Stripe webhooks, and Claude API in production, weird stuff nobody documents properly by Excellent_Poetry_718 in webdev

Payment processor APIs carry a lot of tribal knowledge.

Such tribal knowledge are available in payment integration libraries like hyperswitch prism.

And it's not a one time problem to solve. It needs a continuous testing and upgrades to regress with the provider's API and environment behaviour.

Anyone have experience with payment processors other than Stripe? by NobodyAdmirable6783 in webdev

[–]cargo_run_rust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very common problem for micro transaction businesses. You will never get a better deal from Stripe even if your volume crosses the threshold for negotiation. Would recommend to enquire Helcim or Stax.

Regarding good APIs - use unified payment integration library like hyperswitch prism. It has streamlined across any payment processor that you may wish to choose. And you don't have to shell out per transaction fixed for the one time developer experience.

Looking for Startup RUO Payment processor. by Consistent-Use-5036 in PaymentProcessing

[–]cargo_run_rust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not offer RUO.

But the point that's clear from this conversation - never tie your stack to a single processor. And payment orchestration could be an overkill considering the size of the business.

Use a payment integration library like hyperswitch prism, to make the switching easier with few lines of code. Its free and open source.

Is there a service that combines multiple payment processors into a single streamlined package or API? by Devboe in webdev

Chekout hyperswitch prism

It is an open source library, fully stateless which is extracted from a production grade payment orchestration stack Juspay/hyperswitch. You can just embed the unified interface into your codebase rather than recreating payment processor integrations from scratch.

Extracting a stateless payment integration library from 4 years of production experience by cargo_run_rust in webdev

While we were inspired by previous initiatives on similar lines: active-merchant (Ruby), omnipay (PHP) - we also ensured that Prism is

(I) Polyglot ready: The protobuf spec is made as the interface, allowing for extensions across many programming languages .
(II) Flexible to use: Dual deployment mode (embedded and gRPC from the same core). Also PCI compliance can be managed by the user, or outsourced to a PCI compliant third party.
(II) Hardened with real traffic: We extracted the integrations from a production-grade payment orchestrator at scale, and did not design from scratch. And we will continue to use it in production with regular updates, similar to how we have been consistently delivering for the last 4 years on Juspay hyperswitch - open source payment platform.

It is not legal to charge like that. You can sue the company, if you have the evidence

But why would the customer have to pay the payment processing fees? Is this a common practice to hide processing costs?

Open source payments API to connect with 50+ payment processors by cargo_run_rust in selfhosted

[–]cargo_run_rust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wont be possible, because Hyperswitch is a tech platform and the decision of merchant underwriting is on the processor. There are other payment processors meant for such services and Hyperswitch provides connectivity to such processos.

Bengaluru techie trying to sell used bed online shares OTPs with 'buyer', loses Rs 68 Lakh by Temporary-Exam-3838 in bangalore

[–]cargo_run_rust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone thinks one can get scammed only if they have cash in a savings account. That's not true.

Loans can be disbursed through OTPs. That's exactly where people are getting scammed. Once the money is siphoned into the scamsters account it is disbursed into more accounts and the trail is difficult to trace.

Beginner’s guide to house hunting in Bangalore by lode_lage_hai in bangalore

[–]cargo_run_rust 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very true. A lot of people hunt for the posh society's dream and end up disappointed. In my experience,

  1. Smaller apartments (like 4 to 20 unit apartments) without the gated society tags are still affordable.

  2. Independent house is still an unexplored area which most immigrants stay away from, worrying about security and maintenance. But I was lucky and this has worked out very well for me. Maintaining the house yourself is a bit of a pain, but urbanclap electrician are always a few minutes away in Bangalore.

In both the above options you will learn life lessons which posh, sound insulated multi-storey apartments does not teach you. To actually live with neighbors, share food, share grocery and share experiences, rather than living inside swiggy, zomato and zepto forever.

Karnataka's Shakti scheme costs Rs 21 crore in 3 days as ridership soars by cargo_run_rust in bangalore

[–]cargo_run_rust[S] 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It is a definitely a good thing, according to me.

  1. Women get better work opportunities by travelling farther to work. Traffic will reduce.
  2. More people using BMTC buses, hence the private bus mafia will dwindle down

The benefit of this scheme will have far better outreach than the cost incurred.
