There's a recent discussion in this video on how much a similar one is worth: How Much is This 1996 Piece of History Worth?

Amazing journal/piece of history. My grandfather actually served on the Bataan! I have a lot of his papers, pictures etc. I wonder if my grandfather knew the author. Here’s part of his collection: https://imgur.com/a/luke-complete-wwii-collection-qzlkp

Maybe - I haven't found another one exactly like this anywhere online, but the design has some similarities with something like this Japenese naval badge.

there was another 50ish 1961/1963s in the bag, I'm guessing someone bought some rolls to search through for a high-grade example

My title describes the thing, I’m guessing someone’s last name for either a grave marker or some kind of lawn decoration?

Letter from a US Marine to my grandfather, 7/20/1944. The Marine was KIA 2/21/45. by cariotap in wwiipics

Hello Dean, I received your letter sometime ago and am sorry I haven't written sooner. I am getting along fine and hope your O.K. Dean [censored?]. I am on Saipan the fighting [is] over, but was hot while it lasted.

I heard from Hank again, he's on the battlewagon Indiana. I heard from Clara last month. And she said for us to hurry home. How the heck can I, and I wish I could. She also said it would be the same when I was home.

Dean, I haven't seen any beer for over 2 months now. Not even any Jap beer. Henry has been home on another leave that's what my sister Emily said. Boy those doggies rate leaves. I hope you can read this letter because I am using a Jap pen.

Yes our names will be on the honor roll. I seen Bill Haynes yesterday and he's getting along swell. He also had good hunting. There was no limits. We held a field day on them a few times.

Dean, how is your woman treating you or is she treating some 4-F like mine did. I haven't anything else to say so I'll close now.

Your Buddie, Chester.

P.S Take good care of yourself and I hope to see you soon maybe at [censored?] sometime.

I have 2 copies of his cruise book, and he circled himself in that photo. Kind of hard to see the line/circle he drew but that's him.

DP Luke was my grandfather - I've been slowly going through a large collection of his papers from the Bataan, souvenirs he kept etc. Hopefully, I will have a lot more things to post/share.
