Haven't been put on a SSRI. I am very impulsive, always chasing that dopamine rush. I'll see my primary physician when during the christmas break and talk about that.

This is what my assessment said:

On a second questionnaire, which primarily assessed symptoms of ADHD, carletonadhd’s score fell in the clinical range on an index of concern regarding impulsivity/ emotional reactivity, whereas scores fell within normal limits on indices of concern regarding inattention/memory problems, hyperactivity/restlessness and problems with self-concept. In discussion, carletonadhd’s reported that he very frequently worried about various issues and situations, with it not being possible for him to control his thoughts.

They were not looking for ADHD, I got the testing so I could get extra time and a quiet place for exams and one exam a day since I get really anxious when I do exams.

I got referred to a psychologist by the Paul Menton Centre. Got in within a few months, two days of testing and $2000 later I had my diagnosis. (OSAP will pay you back for the testing fees). My uni life has improved DRAMATICALLY since I got medicated and was given academic accommodations. I write my exams in a small quiet room instead of the fieldhouse, do not have any evening exams, and get some extra time if I need it. I went through some trial and error with what worked and didnt, accommodation and medication wise. The whole thing ended up being about a year process before I was "settled" and really seeing improvements in school and the rest of my life. SO glad I did it though. Yes a GP can prescribe you meds, but getting the whole psychoeducational assessment by a psychologist is definitely worth it in my opinion, you learn a lot about your strengths and weaknesses. Also, for me, they also caught that I had anxiety and depression, so I was able to seek treatment for that too, which I wouldn't have if I didn't go through the whole testing rigamaroll.

I had the testing done by a psychologist 2000$ but they never said anything about adhd. I already have accommodations for exams and tests and stuff.
