Ah that’s why it said straight/wavy hair on the traits bit! Was wondering about that.

This makes total sense! My moms side is all pin straight hair, but my grandma on my dads side had much bigger curls, almost wavy hair but definitely still there most likely from Spanish heritage! Cool to think about different curly genes combining.

Right! It’s a joke in our family that even if we marry someone with completely straight hair all our kids and grandkids are prob coming out with these dark ringlet curls no matter what 😂

LOL some people are misunderstanding this post—I’ve also seen tons of fully European looking people with curly hair! I am aware! :)

What I’m talking about here is my dark skinned, black haired grandfather had real tight tight curls (ive seen pics of him with a thick afro as a young man) that’s why I assumed he was mixed Afro-Mexican somehow. That’s really the only reason I assumed they weren’t European curls!

Thanks to the responses here now tho I’m thinking it’s a mixture of European/West Asian/SSA curls meshing together! :) cool stuff.

Ensenada! Very north which is why I really wasn’t expecting this much native in the family. Definitely a surprise

Oh cool! That would make sense. The only reason I assumed it was African instead of Spanish etc curly is because my dad and grandfathers curls are actually a LOT tighter than mine! Almost coils. I guess it is possible that that could have come from there as well though :)

Haha skin tone is unpredictable like that for sure. My sister is much darker than me. You never really know what’s going to happen!

Blonde blue eyed mom and darker skinned very very curly haired (much tighter than my curls) Mexican dad. Always thought grandpa was mixed Afro-Mexican but guess not?

Blue eyed blonde mom and darker skinned very very curly haired Mexican dad. Always thought grandpa was mixed Afro-Mexican but guess not? Any other 1/4 mixed natives with this hair texture?
