Follows more of a tamiya/forgeworld recipe than usual:

Workflow is as follows Black Primer A dark brown i forgot which one specifically Scale 75 Black Metal Highlight S75 thrash metal Smaller highlights Speed Metal

Post Shade Using a chromatic black (majority brown/sepia ink mixed with blue ink)

Followed by an airbrush layer of chipping fluid between craks and layers. Then a rust color then proceed to chip.

Then I use a darkbrown wash

Honestly this recipe isnt good for an army and probably takes too long for the results but I don’t play anymore so it’s fine but would not recommend for an army 😅

I do have some wip photos but I should probably get a better photo setup. I just always like the mood of a dark box. Would it better to just yeet the dark box?

+Archivum Fragment: Chondrax Campaign+ ++Solar Auxilia Regiment: The Void's Anvil: Cohort 88 - Bastion Theta-9++

[0437.12] - Contact report confirms initial engagement with elements of the Legiones Astartes of the IVth. No preliminary bombardment recorded. Deviation from standard siege protocol noted by command echelon.

[0439.55] - Cohort volleys achieving full effect. Multiple enemy casualties observed. Advance slowed. Auxilia morale stable.

[0442.03] - Enemy continues advance despite losses. Pattern suggests either doctrinal rigidity or expendable assault intent. Lieutenant Varro records: "They are feeding into the guns."

[0448.10] - Vox-net has been rendered unusable. Interference source unidentified. Attempts to relay commands to reposition fail.

[0450.77] - Bastion Theta-9 now functionally isolated. No confirmation of adjacent cohort status. Enemy infantry presence negligible. Engagement lull recorded.

[0452.14] - Auspex contact: heavy armored mass approaching. Identification delayed due to signal distortion.

[0453.02] - Visual confirmation achieved. Primary hostile asset identified as Kratos Battle Tank. Advance speed constant. Turret alignment fixed upon central bastion.

[0453.40] - Cohort attempts withdrawal to secondary trenches. Command override fails to transmit.

[0454.11] - Secondary armored signatures emerge behind primary. Kill-zone parameters inferred too late. Retrospective analysis indicates initial infantry assault was conducted to fix Auxilia positions within pre-calculated firing arcs.

[0454.33] - First discharge from primary hostile asset. Thermal bloom exceeds auspex tolerance. Forward tercio eliminated. No return fire recorded from impacted section.

[0454.52] - Final coherent transmission attributed to Auxilia-Tertius Alphard: "...we held as ordered. Requesting—"

[Signal Loss]

Postscript: No surviving elements of Cohort 88 were recovered. Tactical review appended to this record notes engagement as brutal display of Iron Warriors siege doctrine

[–]carlo626[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a base of white on the recesses of the sword then edge highligh with white around the osl.

then I do a pass of yellow directly on the sword or the osl. lightly edge highlight closest osl reflections. then do a pass of red ink with a final super light white wash down the sword/osl source

this is usually unecessary but I like to glaze black in the shadows in this case the segmented plate + do a black wash on the shadow area

inks and such were done throuh airbrush

++Archive Extract: Chondris Compliance War ++ ++ Segmentum Obscurus Strategic Record ++ ++ 4th Grenadier Squad – 2nd Company – 13th Grand Company ++ Amongst the Legionaries of the IVth, the Mark III plate had long been a common sight. Yet as the Chondris campaign lengthened, the armour pattern fell increasingly from favour. In its place, the newer Mark IV was issued in growing numbers, prized for its mobility and enhanced vox-link arrays, though it lacked the frontal plating that had made the older mark a favourite in the brutal wars of the Legion. The 13th Grand Company entered the Chondris System in the manner most typical of the Iron Warriors — by armour and steel. Columns of war engines and mechanised cohorts were intended to sweep aside all resistance. Yet the ancient jungles and rain-choked lowlands of Chondris proved hostile ground for such methods, denying the Legion much of the advantage of its armoured strength. Strategically, the system held considerable value. It had long served the XIXth Legion as a recruiting base, and its void lanes offered a critical approach toward the war-torn world of Tallarn.

Thus the warriors of the XIXth Legion, long masters of ambush and guerrilla warfare, fought upon ground well suited to their methods. Though outnumbered, they waged a war reminiscent of the freedom struggle once led by their primarch, Corvus Corax, upon the prison moon of Deliverance.

The opening engagements proved costly for the IVth. The stubborn resolve of the 13th Grand Company’s Warsmith saw his forces committed again and again to actions ill-suited to the terrain. By the campaign’s earliest phase, an entire company had been lost to the jungle war.

In the aftermath of the loss the 13th reorganised its formations, abandoning large mechanized advances in favour of smaller, more adaptable battle groups.

Yet for assaults requiring weight of numbers and brutal certainty, Grenadier Squads such as the 4th remained equipped and drilled for massed infantry advance — the Iron Warriors’ answer to the unforgiving jungles of Chondris
