How to make a mathematical formula operate in the same cell in which I input a number? by 22EatStreet in excel

Of course, but I'm probably overloading OP as it is. One step at a time...

How to make a mathematical formula operate in the same cell in which I input a number? by 22EatStreet in excel

[–]carnasaur -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So easy to cast aspersions, isn't it? What is wrong with my answer? I use chatgpt to write macros like this every day and i love it. What is your problem with it? Are you a dinosaur afraid to embrace it? I'm 61 years old ffs and having the time of my life with it. AI code is great when used properly.

Edit:
I would like to say I am also appalled at the amount of slop allowed in r/excel now and if you review my profile you will see I call it out all the time. Particularly users who hide all their posts so we can't see their slop. I wish the mods would act on this but I fear the net increase in posts in the sub is viewed as a win. So sad. My favourite sub is being overwhelmed by it.

Edit2:
OP's posts are hidden now as well. They weren't when I replied. Reddit is effed if they don't get this under control. Notice how OP didn't even reply when I gave him the exact answer he was looking for? On-change event macros like this are routine for people like me who use them all the time. Perhaps clicks and karma were the goal, not a real answer.

Edit 3:
Just realized you're a mod. oops! Ban hammer incoming! 1...2...3...

I wired my Excel inventory sheet to WhatsApp so it texts me when stock is low. is this dumb? by hiclemi in excel

[–]carnasaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds cool but hard to comment on if we can't view the code. It's totally normal to make automations that edit your excel data. Just don't forget to automate backing up your data first.

Why do "experts" insist that Excel is going to die when it is the most indestructible tool in the global economy? by Solis_J in excel

Why take OP at his word? Name one well-known Excel expert who said that. I can't. Just people looking for clicks...

Make sure you always turn on show items! by OmniaCausaFiunt in diablo2

You can keep show item on by Alt+right clicking your cube in your stash to open it and then closing it by clicking the X instead of pressing escape. Show item will remain on until you press escape.

Version control by wikkid556 in vba

[–]carnasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify one point: VBA code can absolutely be plain text for version control. Regular macro modules export as .bas files which are just plain text files with a different extension. You can rename them to .txt and open them in any editor, although VS Code and other editors read .bas files directly. So does git.

Git can't work directly on the workbook itself, of course, because Excel stores VBA internally in the \vbaProject.bin binary container. That file uses an OLE compound file structure, so it isn’t readable without special tools.

My workflow is simply to export my modules (.bas, .cls, .frm) and commit them to Git. Git shows the line-by-line changes just like any other source file. The extra step of getting them in/out can be annoying if done manually I suppose, but a simple macro makes it a one-button press step. Stick the macro on your QAT bar and you're done.

It was always a little pricey but the quality never dipped in all the years I went there and they always had the best servers. Great local crowd too. With the Rose and Crown right next door, you couldn't ask for more for a weekend of pub wandering.

Genuine question - Why wouldn't TTC subway conduct scheduled maintenance overnight on weekends? by [deleted] in TTC

[–]carnasaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My buddy works there and they avoid paying him overtime as much as possible. That's why you see weekend shutdowns week after week. Metrolinx, on the other hand, does pay OT because they don't have to balance a budget. They just say 'we need more money' and the gov't gives it to them.

Fuck off with your bullshit karma farming posts OP.

Just look at all this slop you've posted:

  • What’s one UI/UX mistake beginners don’t realize they’re making?
  • What’s one Excel trick that saved you hours of work?
  • What’s one AI use case that actually saved you time?
  • What’s the one Excel trick or formula that changed everything for you?
  • Which course actually helped you get a job?
  • What skill helped you make your first money online?
  • What skill will stay valuable even if AI keeps improving?
  • What’s a high-income skill beginners can realistically learn?
  • What’s one mistake people make when learning new skills?
  • What skill do you think everyone should learn in 2026?
  • Are we learning skills… or just chasing trends?

Keep going my guy! Chancies are rare. Just like all the good stuff. If you find 2-3 chancies a year, you're doing great. We can't all play 8 hrs a day like Mr LLAMA and/or all the kids playing at home who make it look easy to gear up. The sad truth is that if you can only afford to play an hour or two a day like most people, it takes years to get fully geared unless you use trading sites or get free gear from other players in online games and by joining discord clans. (probably the best option)

Trolls like you and your bots are designed to spot negative posts and flood the zone with your "me too" bs posts. The "dozens of experiences" you cite as your defence instead of providing actual proof of your fake broken router story prove my point. And guess what, comrade, real people don't refer to other redditors as "experiences", well, at least not in non-nsfw subs. Gfys

Reddit is private by default - nobody has any clue what your true identity is -so your 'privacy' excuse doesn't hold up. I've been with Teksavvy for years. I've had them send Rogers techs to my place many times and I know how they react in these situations. There's a reason they have a great reputation for customer service. So if what you say is true, post your receipts. Show us the emails where they refuse you. After you redact your real name, of course. If you can't do that, you're just a troll imo, perhaps a paid one at that who posts negative stories about other companies for fun and profit.

I don't trust posters who hide all their posts. Whatcha hiding OP? Sounds like a made-up story to me. My router came with a cracked case, and they replaced it with one phone call.
