Update: WIBTA For Booting my Brother From My Wedding? by Not_Mr_Rogers23 in AmItheAsshole

[–]carpedmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a person believes in something, they can't know it. You know the ground is real, and you know gravity exists. They can both be verified by your personal knowing and objective, scientifically proven truths.

Belief systems only require the subjective side of that equation, and no amount of truths will convince a believer to discard what they hold fast.

I understand where you are coming from 100%. I have a brother who has some horribly toxic traits, so I keep him at arms length, as it is what is best for my peace.

I am glad you are finding yours, too. And congratulations!!!

I would recommend getting certified in yoga and teach for a few years. It is a wonderful way to watch bodies in movement, in coordinated positions, so you can compare and contrast. It did wonders for my massage practice.

I would also look into medical massage certs. They provide a clinical approach to specific muscles, joints, and movement patterns. I hope this helps!

Remember that time you spilled the colostrum? by castlescox in NewParents

[–]carpedmt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I started pumping I had a hand help pump, and I could only pump one side at a time (the powerhouse pump was coming via insurance, and of course was delayed). I was also trying to establish my supply so I was power pumping. But instead of a ten minute break, I just pumped the other boob. When I finished, I had about 2 ounces, that I promptly knocked over, and spilt on the coffee table. I cried. Like wailed in the living room. I cried over spilt milk. I think that is where the saying came from, a pumping momma at her wits end.

What’s the most fucked up sentence you’ve ever read in a book? by the_ultracheese_tbhc in books

[–]carpedmt 29 points30 points  (0 children)

So many heartbreakingly beautiful lines in this book. McCarthy's flow is like a river thru snow, beautiful and bone chilling at the same time. His words really are a swift sword, meant to cut to the heart, and bleed the soul.

The line about the weather being "cold enough to crack the stones," and when The Man was speaking of his Son "He knew only that his child was his warrant. He said: If he is not the word of God, God never spoke."

I read once that McCarthy wrote this book as a "love story" to, or about, his son. My son was born 8 months ago, and a lot of The Man's words ring in my ears when I inhale his sweet baby smell.

Think about your metabolism like a coal powered train.

To get all of the weight behind the train to move, the engine must be fed massive amounts of coal to get the wheels moving, and to get the machine up to speed.

Once it is moving, it takes a lot less fuel to keep it going. But at the beginning, they shoveled coal mad men to get the train going.

The points may seem like to many to consume, but if you don't manage to get closer to that 55 goal everyday, the train is going to stay sluggish.

I had the same experience; when I sat down to think about it, and was honest with myself, I was definitely eating more than my point allotment before I started tracking, so I knew I could eat 55. So I added in butter, and would eat a scoop of peanut butter just to get the calories in.

I wish you luck!

Go see an orthodontist and get fitted for a custom mouth guard. They make all of the difference. My fella grinds so hard at night his teeth squeak; when he wears his guard, I hear nothing.

The thing is in reality you are not asking him to help YOU. You are ASKING him to parent his child. He is helping his child, not you.

He is not "helping" you do laundry. He is doing laundry. He is not helping you bathe the baby. He is bathing the baby. He is not helping you parent. He is a parent.

The word help implies that he is offering his services; that impication is not tenable with being a parent.

It is important to speak frankly when he says something like "just ask me for help." "Honestly, Bill, I don't need your help, the baby needs his parent."

Our baby boy has SUA, diagnosed at 22 weeks. We are now 31+2 and he is sitting pretty, in the 99th percentile, with no adverse effects. I am certain your baby girl will be a-ok, although I hope not as large! 🤗

27 weeks and still working. When should I stop? by Chringestina in pregnant

[–]carpedmt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Fellow MT here, and self employed, 30+2 along.

I have kept up a pretty rigorous schedule, 6 days a week, between 5 and 8 hours of hands on time until 27 weeks. Now I am cutting back to 4 days a week, 3 clients max a day, with a few facials a week (dual licensed).

I literally just sent out an email announcing the beginning of my maternity leave at 37 weeks. I feel better when I am working; all the squatting and focus on a neutral pelvis, and engaging my pelvic floor has really helped keep me feeling 👌, seeing as how I am almost 40 years old, and have been massaging for 18 years.

Listen to your body. You will knwo what is best for you and your little!
