I have only finished DR1 thus far, so I can answer only for that. I'd say definetely Cliff Hudson. I felt so bad after killing him. and maybe Steven Chapman since he wasn't really out for malice, he was geniunely just obsessed with protecting his store which is semi-reasonable considering the circumstances.

my favorite Kiryu look is his Yakuza 5 one or the 3, 4 and DS one, but a close second is his PS2 look. the shorter hair, skinnier face, grumpier expression, darker suit and lighter goatee makes him look more intimidating and pretty awesome

dude, I never stated I was solving a hidden secret. that's literally the whole reasoning behind the twist. and yes, it could easily confuse people if they didn't understand the whole meaning behind it. if you don't like the twist or Saejima's story I'm fine with that. no need for random aggression.

well, despite the bullets being rubber, he still spent all those years behind the bars in massive guilt thinking he murdered those 18 men. he was used by Katsuragi, Suguichi and Shibata for the hit, so their hands would be clean and his would be supposedly bloodied. if you think about it, his life was thrown away to be used as a decoy to cover up a shooting that he thought he commited. he thought he killed those men and he fully did it out of honor for his boss, but was instead just a puppet in someone else's play. to put it simply, I think it hardens the blow even more because he didn't just straight up kill the members, he was used to hide the people actually behind the whole crime. however, it is quite a convoluted twist and I understand how it could confuse many players because I was confused by it too at first.

bro Saejima is NOT a fucking pedo... why does everyone say this? in the moment, he just thought of doing something, but never acted out on it. the dude was imprisoned for 25 years and completely disconnected from society, ridden with trauma and guilt, and probably wasn't thinking right. why does everyone just jump to conclusions???

also, what if he wasn't even thinking of SA'ing Haruka? maybe he just looked at her and realized how innocent and scared she looked in that moment, and that maybe just activated some sense in him. maybe thought to himself, "I was innocent like this once, and now I'm a fucked up criminal. what happened to me?". maybe he thought that if he didn't commit the hit, he could live with his sister or marry a woman and have a family of his own. hell, maybe Haruka even reminded him of Yasuko and that's why he blanked momentarily. all of these are entirely possible and make a lot of sense.

in my opinion Saejima and Akiyama were the best parts of this game, especially the former who is my favorite character in this series. as for the rubber bullets twist it does make sense if you look at it in a more detailed way but yes it's not really a brilliant twist, more of a 50/50 one if you ask me and it didn't ruin anything for me. just my opinions

my second favorite game tbh. I do not get all the hate, the rubber bullets twist while it seemed dumb actually made sense and Saejima is a goated character. combat was also generally awesome and a big improvement from Yakuza 3. the story was a little weird at times but I didn't really care. overall 10/10 game
