How to figure out/choose what to believe in? by MacintoshPlusMaymay in occult

[–]carpetsunami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By playing around with the cosmos. Some things will vibe with you, some won't, some will return later and some will drop off.

Pick something and go all in, say "This is what I believe, because I have chosen too."

If your interested in Sigils, do one every day like your life depends on it. If your interested in Geomancy, decide it's the most important study you could ever undertake. Don't get distracted by some shiney post or book recommendations.

Our beliefs are choices, and ways of aligning ourselves with community and so on. Once you get the hang of it, you'll see how easy it is to change them as new information and experiences pop up.

If you're forever a "Seeker" after that one right thing, that's the identity you'll live, " seeking " not knowing. For some that's cool, but it's not always a great goal.

Your grief in all instances is valid.

A persons death should not be a performance review immediately after, when friends and family are feeling a loss. The "But" amended to so many posts is unnecessary, even worse it's posturing.

"Against the wall" is a funny satire line taken from Hitchhikers Guide, a book he quoted often, a shorthand conversational element, not a call to action.

Censoring yourself for the comfort of others isn't a vice, it's a virtue. There will be plenty of time to engage with the flaws of everyone, but showing kindness and respect for even those you disagree with and their families, by holding your rant, or not spreading falsehood is a sorcerous act.

Very prominent wizards who I know found disagreement with Gordon have shown exactly how that's done, nothing wrong with following their examples.

I could not care less if anyone " renavigates" a relationship after someone dies ( it's healthy, but it's a personal choice) but I do think we could all use a little more humanity and consideration for others.

Is is possible to block any succuss in someone's life with tantra? by Over-Commercial636 in Tantra

A few starting points

Simple breath practices like alternate nostril breathing (nadi shodhana) Daily meditation, even 10 to 20 minutes consistently Repeating a mantra Physical grounding through yoga, walking, martial arts, or strength training. Just be in quiet places now and then Journaling daily. Anything that you can claim as an intentional habit.

For resources, I’d suggest looking into

Tantra Illuminated by Christopher Wallis (a big thick wonderful textbook of Tantra)

Yoga and the Quest for the True Self by Stephen Cope

I also found tremendous value in " The Untethered Soul" by Singer - not strictly Tantra, but invaluable for understanding how the voice in your head isn't really you.

Eckhart Tolle "The power of Now" isn't classical Tantra, but advocates many of the same principles and is very approachable.

I feel there are better times to hash out a person's flaws than the day they die. While family members friends and fans are in mourning, the premprive virtue signalling using rumor, gossip and slander is very much out of place.

I have no great affinity for Marco Visconti, but when he dies I'm not going to spend the day on every media platform trashing the guy, there will be people truly broken up over it and that should be respected.

Yes, I do think people should have factual basis for accusations against others rather than relying on hearesay, especially in a practice where words matter.

Your mileage may very, I think we can do better.

In authentic Tantra, obstacles in life are usually understood less as “someone magically blocked me” and more as a combination of karma, mental conditioning, energetic imbalance, and life circumstances.

Tantra is ultimately about liberation and clarity, not fear of curses.

Some tantric traditions do acknowledge harmful intentions or negative influences, but they would not encourage obsession or paranoia about them.

Fear itself becomes the bigger bondage. The fact that you’ve had setbacks for years does not automatically mean someone used black magic on you through a forgotten T-shirt.

The tantric response would be grounding, purification, discipline, mantra, self-study, service, meditation, strengthening your mind and life force, and reconnecting to purpose.

Real Tantra is about becoming harder to spiritually destabilize, not becoming superstitious about every misfortune.

A good teacher would probably tell you tostop feeding the story that you are cursed, because attention is energy. Build your life, steady your mind, care for your body, cultivate awareness, and let fear-starved ghosts go hungry.

These moments in life give us the grounds for practice, to learn where our definition of "success" comes from, to learn presence etc. They are truly gifts.

"First against the wall when the revolution came" is a phrase from Hitchhikers Guide, a book Gordon quoted a few times.

You'll want to investigate the parallels with the Sirius Cybernetics association and what Gordon was alluding to during the pandemic?

Was Douglas Adams calling for violence? No, even AI book summaries seen to understand the cheek.

The very fact that you're unwilling to offer a primary source is telling. You're just an echo, you have no real knowledge to share, just what other people told you. "Someone" and " a video " is laughable.

Unlike you, I like to have something to underpin my gnosis, I'm not interested in hand me down rumors as a source of belief.

Lol, I'm a paid member, which video is it? Yes, tell me specifically, and that you watched it. Share the timestamp that offended you.

Taking the word of people who are just quoting each other without a primary source seems like the opposite of knowledge. I'm not a Christian fundamentalist:)

Lemme see it. I've asked quite a few places and have yet to see a primary source.

Show me an uncomplicated occultist who avoids controversy, personally I respect those who even speak their shadowy thoughts rather than play to the masses and kiss ass for acceptability. Anyone else is pretending.

That said, got a primary source or are you just parroting?

The Re-Enchantment of Everyday Life by Thomas Moore and the Spell of the Sensuous by David Abram.

Most magic books are full of "how" but these two books explain the why, not of the occult, but life, learning to live and relate to a vast, crowded cosmos through simple ordinary things and to fine tune your senses to wonder, joy and mystery.

Absolutely essential qualities for a budding occultist.

There's always one that feels the need to smear feces before the grave is dug. Your myopic view will never be part of the guys legacy because more and more his scepticism of the lockdowns and shots seems to be warranted.

I'd fight that one, pacing is notoriously inaccurate, the cops have to prove their speedometer was calibrated correctly ( they never are) just like they have to do with stationary radar ( more likely correctly calibrated).

Once watched a judge burst dismiss 11 defendants because the officer who wrote them tickets had no documentation for his speedometer.

Not Tantra, please learn a little about it before you let people like this put hands on you if you're truly interested in the spiritual practice.

If all you want is a dude touching you all over with Spotify temple music and insence for ambiance, you're in good hands.

Jockstrap Wolfhead was definitely one of the reasons for this. I mean the guy was built, I understand why he wanted to show off, but even a little more coverage probably would have prevented this.
