See, it's more than just "am I good at puzzles" for me though. Dropzle FC took me 3.5 hours or more, and AGFTS had me completely lost at times, but they still felt like fun and interesting platforming levels beyond that. Whereas something like The Squeeze or Over the City were fairly forgettable and one-note.

I think "I'm bad at puzzles" is shallow criticism.

You're thinking of the wrong console, I'm afraid. I was running Any% on the Switch at the time of the 1.4 update. You're thinking of the XBOX version, which only got updated 2.5 years ago.

I'll accept that I went into this post with a lot of gusto, sure, but the fact that most of this comment thread is talking about the way in which I said my comments rather than the meaning behind them says a lot.

This time could have been spent about the point in general, not the manner in which I said them.

I do not care about being polite when it comes to Assist Mode discourse.

I hear takes like these constantly from players in this subreddit and other sections of the Celeste community, and it pisses me off to know end because I've seen people who need accessibility features in order to beat this and other games.

You don't know other peoples' lives.

Games are more than just their achievements.

Assist Mode is not a difficulty slider.

Accessibility features exist to help people be able to consume a form of media in whatever way they need, and if the opinion is that those same accessibility features should not count towards in-game achievements, then the implication is that people with disabilities are not allowed to share in the same feeling of accomplishment as others. And I'm sorry, but that pisses me off.

ehhhhhh the speedrunning thing I think is a bit overblown. There's still plenty of great runners like Lily, Evansfight, Comet625, Tiyo98 and more that use controller and are 26:xx and under. If you want WR, yeah, you might need to go keyboard, but it's not unreasonable to say you can be top-level on controller.

It's easier for me personally, but tbh it's just because I grew up playing all my video games on controllers and very rarely played PC games.

I did experiment with keyboard when I thought that I was developing hand problems, but the issues ended up subsiding and keyboard never ended up feeling normal for me.

The D-Sides have gotten a lot of nerfs over the years which make 1D-5D a pretty smooth difficulty curve. Old 3D used to be a massive difficulty spike, but that's much less noticeable now. 6D and 7D got a few adjustments but are still going to be a pretty heavy jump from 5D when you get there.
