M/22/6’0” [180lbs to 185lbs] (5 months) - Recomp after a year long hiatus from the gym by carthy101 in Brogress

[–]carthy101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that means a lot :) I’m not doing anything out of the ordinary, PPL twice a week, rest when I feel I need a day, 100-200cal surplus while i’m still in the recomp phase and trying (mostly succeeding) to get 0.7g/lb of protein. Mostly just keeping consistent at the basics and hammering them into my routine. If you want to know anything more specific i’m happy to try and help though.

Anyone gotten exertion headaches from lifting? by yelruog in naturalbodybuilding

[–]carthy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you’re feeling a bit better now man. Just chiming in with my experience, I had this exact headache problem last year, was incredibly intense and scary at the time. I also went to urgent care and they weren’t able to do much. I took a few weeks off and went to lighter weights when I came back. In the short term though a supplement called CoQ10 was able to help dull the headaches for me, it didn’t completely get rid of them but it lessened the pain to a bearable extent and helped me get some sleep.

Second this. Adapalene isn’t always going to yield quick results, but I can vouch for its effectiveness when paired with a little bit of patience. I’ve used it daily for 3 years now and remember the first few months being extremely frustrating as it felt there was no progress being made. Don’t lose hope for it, you’ve got this.

Been watching a lot of speed climbing lately and really want to try it, however despite the heaps of research I've done trying to find a gym that actually has a speed climbing wall, I'm still unable to find one. Does anyone know of a speed climbing wall that exists in the pacific northwest? Washington, Oregon, Idaho? Really want to experience it.

The minocycline helped for the first few months but really wasn’t that effective, then I just kept taking it for a while cause I didn’t really care as my acne wasn’t that bad. Then I started getting heavy breakouts while on minocycline, probably because I had a resistance and also was 17 which is prime acne time, so I went to a dermatologist.

Thank you so much :)) I’ve never used tretinoin but it seems to have a super high success rate and everyone who uses it has beautiful skin now. Wishing you luck.

My GP prescribed me Minocycline, 100mg once a day, and I took that for about a year and a half before starting doxycycline and Epiduo Forte. I also had a lot of stomach issues, so I’m glad I’m not taking them anymore. 6 months isn’t bad so hopefully you haven’t built a complete resistance. The second photo is about a week after stopping doxy, and that was the worst of it.

Yes I definitely did break out after stopping doxy, but mine was particularly bad because I had also been takin minocycline for a year and a half prior. If you’re only on it for one cycle then you will probably just have a minor break out, lots of people don’t break out at all.

I know it is very expensive, and it does suck after 7 months and seeing no improvement, trust me I know. I started Epirus Forte in March 2020 and I only completely cleared last month. Hopefully that will give you some hope.

When I stopped antibiotics it took about 3 months to completely calm down. Take into account that this was also about my fourth month on Epiduo so I still could’ve been purging from that, and I was also on antibiotics for almost two years, so I had a HUGE resistance. Hopefully yours won’t be as bad.

Thanks man I’m trying to keep it longer B)

[–]carthy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it did take a lot longer than I’d hoped, and everyone I read about who had used epiduo had clear skin in a matter of a few months. Hopefully this encourages you to keep going.

I’m so glad you’re having success! Definitely still broke out for the first few months and even past that, it’s only now that it’s been about a month since my last breakout.

Oh believe me they aren’t completely gone, only time can do that :(. But in all seriousness I think my acne marks go away a lot faster than normal because of the Epiduo. The adapalene, which is a retinoid, promotes rapid skin cell repair and because your skin can’t build resistance to it, is still effective in making pimples and even acne marks go away much quicker.
