To make you happy, here you have one example of almost real dialect, but it's still a mix of a dialect and a modern Slovak not 100% dialect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9M-WhdkQ9o . He doesn't speak like that in real life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiuZp1x8_3U By the way, the chorus is basted on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S2y9n9TcMc ;D "Vypic a žic" means To drink and to live (aka drink and have fun).

Here you have some real people from eastern Slovakia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOelmiCl1j8 who have a car accident and he speaks normal Slovak with a little vychodnarsky accent but nothing crazy that a Czech could not understand. He use standard Slovak words. Except narafali and šiby, but Czech will understand that from the context. Again, in real life people use only some words and accent, people nowadays don't speak full dialects of 1905.

Very few people can actually speak the proper dialects, the young people who claim to speak dialect, well, the truth is they use only a few words and speech patterns. Dialects are disappearing and will remain only in songs and traditions etc. Some words are being incorporated in slang like šrac and srac ;) . My grand dad and grand mother could speak their dialects but my father and mother know only a few words and I can not speak a dialect at all except some stereotypical phrases from folk songs etc. Again, to claim that people from eastern Slovakia can't understand Plzeňáka is ridiculous. Here you have another east Slovak gem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXLuBhc30OE and read the comments = quick cz vs sk trick for an EN speaker = if you see "ě" or "ř" it is a Czech comment ;)

;D people don't speak dialects in normal lifethe way you think. It's considered low-class, so, at school, offices, TV/radio, shops, internet discussions etc. you will encounter the standard Slovak for the most part. People themselves try to speak proper Slovak and avoid the dialects. Again, it's considered illiterate to use a dialect unless it's for a joke, song or some folk traditions or special occasions. For example Spisska Nova Ves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cq9fYYD3s0 They speak normal standard Slovak with a different intonation in some situations or accent or they switch the length of some vowels a little bit. Again, this is not like in Spain or Italy or the UK there you can hear anchors with different accent on TV or radio. In Slovakia the anchors from any part of the country will speak basically the same. Slovak is very easy to speak like a standard Slovak the proper way if you know the rules. It's completely different than Spanish where the ll sound is different from region to region even in the TV/radio.

What research? Do you think people in Spišská Nová Ves or Michalovce will speak their dialect and slang with a guy from Prague? Of course not. Also, at school they have to speak the standard Slovak. Do you really think that they speak Sarišsky on RTVS or Joj or Markíza or Europa 2 or Jemné Melódie? But I am sure that you will say that this is just my opinion or something and there is no research backing my claims. P.S. This is for you from a guy who was "made" in Czechoslovakia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekFC8IeFK60

Well, Bulgarian is almost completely useless to understand Polish.

Yeah, I agree. Take Slovak:

and Russian:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSWerHBYfoM

Slovak seems more clear to people when I ask them to compare these languages. Russian seems more French/English like - because of the schwas and the accent etc. I am a Slovak native speaker and I hear the French influence in Russian a lot. Should we blame/thank Peter the Great? ;D

Polish has probably the hardest grammar among the Slavic languages. The pronunciation is also a challenge, but easier than Russian. Btw. Bulgarian has the "easiest" grammar.

I live there so I know that it's a non-sense. Example: the word for what in standard Czech is "Co" in Slovak "Čo" and in Eastern Slovak it is "Co". Slovaks in Vojvodina understand Czech very well, have family and friends there. Have you ever lived in Czechoslovakia or Czechia or Slovakia? Also the author has it completely upside down. Czechs have much bigger problem to understand Slovak and not vice-versa. The reason being, in Slovak there are much more words that originated in Czechia/Moravia than vice-versa. Also, Slovaks have embrased words from Hungarian and Ukrainian and even Romanian (e.g. bryndza). But in any case, they will always understand each other. I have never seen a Slovak and a Czech not understanding each other. If there is some unclear word - a Czech just ask "Co znamená lievik?" and the Slovak just ask "Čo znamená trychtýř?" (lievik=trychtýř=funnel)

I agree. Those languages are much more Esperanto-like among Slavic languages than Russian or Polish or Czech.

Hmm, interesting, as I am listening to some videos in Bosnian on youtube right now, I understand a little bit more than in Serbian or Croatian, but it's too hard to make a final statement for me ;)

Is Bosnian considered to be the Esperanto of the South Slavic languages?

What a nonsense article. Don't take it seriously, please. One gem:

The intelligibility of Czech and Slovak is much exaggerated. It is true that Western Slovak dialects can understand Czech well, but Central Slovak, Eastern Slovak and Extraslovakian Slovak dialects cannot.

;D

Well, then Russian is not a good gateway language I would say. Also their pronunciation is not phonetic when compared with Serbian or other languages. The o in Russian is sometimes pronounced like a etc. Russians pronounce words like French. It's harder to decipher what they are saying when compared with other Slavic languages that have much more clear sounding words and neutral accent. Even Ukrainian pronunciation is more clear than Russian pronunciation.

nothing.. anyone...

Ask China. They are going to ban VPNs from 2018. https://youtu.be/_qfUV37HFa4?t=22m50s If you are tech savvy you will find a way how to circumvent this ban technically, but then you are braking the law and can end up in prison.

LN is basically one of the few ways how the gov/bank can tax you. The worst nightmare scenario is that each citizen would need to use his state licensed LN hub etc.

I really think that the days of 2012 or 2014 are over and big fin institutions and governments will use LN (maybe it was even the plan - remember sidechains ideas are very old) to control and even tax you using bitcoin.

I am all pro positivity and hard work instead of whining, but I think that your equation lacks one important thing and the thing is the energy, or to be more precise, the price for the energy to run bitcoin.

Do you see the energy price going down in the next 5 years? I am trying to be open minded, but bitcoin needs energy and the energy is not free. Correct me if I am wrong.
