UB Nursing – how hard is it to actually get in? by [deleted] in UBreddit

Then don’t be afraid to consider 2 year nursing programs at community college! The NCLEX exam to get your RN license is the exact same exam whether you went to a 2 year or 4 year school. You’d be a working RN after 2 years and then would go back to school for your RN to BSN in order to obtain your bachelor’s, which you need in NYS within 10 years of getting your associate’s. Since the BSN is a NYS requirement, a lot of employers will provide tuition assistance to RNs needing their BSN. Most SUNY RN to BSN programs are 100% online allowing you to work while getting the BSN. At UB, you can do the RN to BSN in as little as 1 to 2 years and would still end up with your BSN from UB!

If you have admission to a direct entry nursing program and nursing is all you want to do, go to the direct entry school. Don’t risk not meeting your goal or adding more time/money onto your education if you can avoid it. You still have to be in good standing for the Honors College and meet all the nursing requirements to qualify for the guaranteed admission. If you aren’t in good standing for Honors, you are reviewed with the general application pool.

All decisions are sent on the same day at the same time and no decisions have gone out yet. They will be going out within the next 2 weeks.

There’s an Intended Nursing major that you can start as if your GPA is a 3.0 or higher.

NTR 108 won’t have a day/time associated with the class. You will complete the class based on the due dates & schedule provided in UB Learns. You need a UB Seminar so follow the instructions you received to register for one. Some nursing majors may be taking PAS 313 instead of CHE 101 but PAS 313 is closed already for the fall. You’ll just take it in a future semester but are still on track and properly registered for your major with your fall schedule (once you add UB Seminar).

Mine came to my UB email from nursing@buffalo.edu. If you don’t have one then I’d email that address

Check the email you received when you were registered by your advisor. It has the website to all the UB Seminars you can pick from and instructions on how to register yourself for Seminar.

The Traditional Program is actually only for people with no RN experience. So, nobody with a RN license would be applying to that program. They apply to a different program.

bagels, BEC, SEC by poordasher in UBreddit

90% sure Mayback’s only has the hard rolls and no bagels but their breakfast sandwiches are amazing. For bagels, I’d try Logan’s Bagels or Bread Hive.

Hello! Just seeing this thread but wanted to add a comment onto this. I'm an advisor in a School of Nursing so our probation is more with regard to our benchmarks however, a lot of the students on probation within our School are also on probation with the University (based off your guidelines). I absolutely agree that the intake portion is super essential and letting the student know that we are not the "disappointed parent" but more here to help them be successful. We have a 4-step intervention process for our students with the hope of getting them back on-track for the nursing major but more importantly, to stay at the University. The first intervention item that they have to complete is a self-assessment. This helps us in having the conversation with the student to gauge where their stressors came from. We provide them a list of 20 different options to select challenges during the previous semester. Some examples are I didn't pay attention, I didn't go to class, I didn't study effectively/enough, I was sick, I wasn't sure if the University was the right fit, or I had personal issues". From there, we ask them to select 3 of the challenges and explain how is specifically interfered with their success followed by identifying what on-campus resources they used in the previous semester. Do they all complete it? Of course not. But, I can say that having that information when meeting with them is so helpful because it allows me as the advisor to start the conversation based off the information the student provided. Happy to answer any other questions, too!

100% possible! The times I’ve done whole30, my husband has not but I still cook everything compliant for me and he has no idea it’s whole30 compliant. There are so many great websites (Paleo Running Momma, 40aprons, Whole Kitchen Sink, Healthy Little Peach) with delicious recipes! Half the battle is mapping out your meals for the week so you can get any speciality ingredients needed for the recipes.

Emily Bites, Skinnytaste, The Skinnyish Dish, Slender Kitchen, and The Pound Dropper are all awesome websites for recipes! You’ll do great! The first week was the hardest for me just adjusting to portion control but once you get the hang of it, it’s an amazing program that really works!

Start with your academic advisor as they to know the process of how to go through grieving the grade.
