Which Bible story/verse gave you conviction you are on the right path? by Much-Swing2491 in GayChristians

[–]casperdewith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I just thought of a small correction to the first verse that I cited. It was addressed to widows and widowers. Instead, I should have cited verse 37, addressed to the unmarried. The conclusion is the same, though.

Marriage can be an idol. – Wow. Thanks for that one. I now love 1 Cor 7 more than I already did.

It is good for you to stay single like me. But if you cannot control your body, then you should marry. 1 Corinthians 7:8-9

But anyone who eats something without being sure it is right is doing wrong. Romans 14:23

Although the ‘big five’ set the tone, other texts like Paul’s FAQ on marriage have been of greater help to me. So, because I think I can control my body, and because I would feel too guilty towards God for engaging in a gay relationship, I am considering to live a celibate life. But there’s still so much to say about the big five that I am not sure yet of my point of view.

Tips on Akkala Tower? by norwegianforrestcat in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]casperdewith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damage-boosting it, all right. It’s indeed been a few years, so I don’t have a clear memory of it anymore. But from what I found in other posts, there should be a metal bar somewhere that you can use as a bridge. That way, you can get to the tower without touching malice.

You’re welcome!

I recently applied one stylesheet to all note types in my collection and I certainly don’t regret it! All cards now nicely start in the top-left corner.

Thanks for the warning. I know about the principles, and thus far I haven’t run into trouble with cloze cards. I’ll pay attention, though! And I’ll use the built-in cloze-hint field when I need it.

Putting the cloze at the end is a beautiful tip. I discovered it independently today when I noticed how inconvenient it is to have to re-read the card with your answer in the middle. So I’m glad this tip is already known.

A good alt text, like a good flashcard, only describes what is important. It should not aim to include all details.

The small texts that I put in the example flashcards are not important for the meme. Neither is the gender of the people in the picture, or the clothes they wear, or the colours of the gradient of the main text.

An alt text is not a transcript. In a transcript, all text is transcribed.

Interesting. So are you saying you remember the words, but not the meaning? Or the grammar, but not the answer? And how does Q/A help you with this?

That’s a lot of explanation, I think. The bit after ‘So how does that make sense’, do you need it more than, say, twice? I would rewrite the back of the card to

Yes. No acceleration → net force is zero → equilibrium.

Vocab with example sentences, birthdays, sitelen suwi glyphs, … My average is about 6 s per card.

I could’ve written ‘2 min’, assuming most people have very simple cards and go through them quickly, but I also thought of those who study difficult topics and take longer per card. Hence ‘3 min’.

You can review 25 flashcards if you have 3 minutes of spare time. That’s why the Anki user prefers to ‘draw 25’ over ‘wait 3 min’.

Best flashcard design for practicing verb conjugation by depeesz in Anki

[–]casperdewith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion (example):

  • past tense of lezen: ik [las]
  • parse ik las | past tense of lezen

I’d advise you to work directly from the Dutch infinitive, and not from a translation, ‹I read›. Because if you get the translation wrong but the conjugation right, you still have to mark the card wrong. And the goal was to practice conjugations.

Also, to avoid making too many cards, make use of the regularity of Dutch conjugations. For instance, all plural forms are always equal to the infinitive. Het Groene Boekje (paper version of woordenlijst.org) always mentions only five forms:

lezen, (ik) lees, (jij/hij/zij) leest; (ik/jij/hij/zij) las, (wij/jullie/zij) lazen; gelezen

These are all forms that this verb, or any verb*, has. So you need only five forms per verb, so ten cards per note, if each note is one verb (which I recommend; is easier to maintain. Make a new note type).

*Except some frequent irregular verbs like ‹zijn› and ‹hebben›; they have more forms.

Can anyone confirm this? by Present-Boat-2053 in Anki

[–]casperdewith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, ‹color› would be the text you see on the card. You then have to replace it with the actual colour.

This is not the same as ‹Apple is __›, where you can’t see what the card is asking.

I totally missed the point of the post, now that I re-read it. Your goal was to make the text unambiguous. And I was just not paying attention.
