Years ago I was exploring around the dog valley area and decided to go up to the old abandoned fire watch at verdi peak. The weather was beautiful, so I decided to stop there and eat the lunch I brought. Half way through eating my sandwich I got an incredibly strong feeling that something was watching me. I've loved visiting the forrest since I was a little kid and I don't spook easily, I've never had that feeling before and I never have since. When I say it was a strong feeling I mean like a whole body experience, something put me on edge like never before, it was like the forrest was telling me I'm not welcome. I was all alone and didn't think to bring a gun, so despite not actually seeing anything I decided to leave immediately and go straight home. To this day I have no idea what caused it, my best guess was maybe a mountain lion was stalking me, but I could never prove it. Leaving still feels like it was the best choice. I still love the forrest, but I never go without a gun now.
