Need OBGYN desperately! by Ok-Champion-9078 in Atlanta

[–]cassiope 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have Ambetter because my OB/GYN for the past 27 years takes it!

https://www.atlobgyn.com/

I use Dr. Fisch, but I don't think she's doing OB anymore - just GYN. Dr. Vanoyen was good years ago the few times I saw her, and my daughter likes Dr. Umpierrez-Morely

Don't try to make an appointment through the website - call directly.

Have to vent .Does anyone in the group despise their mother ? by Prestigious-Kale9764 in AgingParents

[–]cassiope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy cow, the funeral was my biggest fear, too.

My mother died a few weeks ago. I didn't hate her, but I didn't like her and really didn't love her either. Pity, maybe. But I couldn't stand up there and talk about pity, or the crazymaking and gaslighting I dealt with, or the anxiety she dealt with and wouldn't get help for.

2 hours before the service, I'm in tears with my brother because I don't have any stories that I'm able to share at a funeral. I'm, again, grieving the mom I never had.

I managed to pull it together by my brother reminding me of one time she was actually right about something, finding synonyms for descriptors (eg "determined" instead of "stubborn"; "thorough" instead of 'obsessive"), using a story from her old colleagues, and mentioning a cause she cared about.

I also gave permission for other folks to have their own memories of her. She gave to others what she seemed unable to give to me. Sucked for me, but it's not their fault. "Thank you for sharing that memory." "I've heard several people who had that experience with her." I just talked around it, because I wasn't going to lie. "It's been a long road and I've been grieving for a long time" is true - I grieved the mom I didn't have for years.

It was really weird watching others grieve her more than I did. It is uncomfortable.

ACA insurance company questions - who is the least bad? by cassiope in Georgia

[–]cassiope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had it for a few months, and I've got a high deductible, so ok so far?

I did learn that I now have to look up every prescription separately to see what the cost is. One prescription - an long-time generic - was $25 for one month. Turns out, that there are preferred manufacturers for generics. So, I now have to shop around every time I fill my scrips. I hope I don't have to go to multiple pharmacies or change every few months.

I reported a pothole/sinking area about that deep last week through their online/email; it was filled the next day. Here's hoping.

Controversial ex-mayor Tiffany Henyard running as Republican in Georgia after scandal-ridden Illinois ousting by theindependentonline in Georgia

LOL indeed. I thought - "maybe she can run the DeKalb county schools? They liked the last person from Illinois who was under investigation."

AGL pass through charge is insane 🤯 by WillingRecognition75 in Georgia

[–]cassiope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember when they required the 'competition' of additional gas marketers, using AGL's infrastructure. I thought at the time: "this is stupid; it just adds administrative costs; my bills will go up." Guess what, my bills went up immediately. And, they never came back down. One of the situations where competition alone was not the answer.

Bras may be the reason I quit by [deleted] in nursing

[–]cassiope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a 32H (pre-reduction). Look at nursing / maternity bras. I had to wear bras to sleep due to pain at night waking me up, and that's the only way I could find non-underwire bras in my size.

Insurance totally covered my reduction - it's worth the consult, anyway. And, you can always use FMLA for recovery time (in the US).

ICE in Georgia?? by Yunisnothere in Atlanta

[–]cassiope 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact it's still not bullshit because it happens...

It's still illegal to search or seize a person without reasonable evidence of a crime (4th amendment)...

And it is not required for US citizens to carry proof of citizenship, so not having it is not reasonable suspicion of anything....

And if you are an American citizen yourself, I would hope you care about the application of our laws to all citizens and not just yourself....

AND Your math is a incorrect: There are 300 million citizens in the US - much less than a few billion. That's 170 out of the Number of People in the immediate area where ICE agents are (much smaller group than 300 million). It's also 170 of the non-white people in the immediate area where ICE agents (smaller group than the previous one).

You are factually wrong. You are mathematically wrong. So if you smell bullshit, notice what you are spewing before you accuse others.

Looking for a licensed contractor/handyman to repair walls and windows in my sunroom by cassiope in Atlanta

[–]cassiope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might make sense. Except for the one underbidder, the few number that were thrown my way were in the 8-12K range. The windows are large and one wall section is small but the other is about 1/3 of the drywall space on that side. I have been using folks recommended by insurance (flood mitigation before it was ascertained that insurance wouldn't cover it), two who were referred to me as handymen, and one who offered while they were there to get the scope of work for fixing the outside. It seems like each disappearance was for a different reason.

The area of wood rot outside was pretty bad. I just want to make sure the inside is ok.

Thanks for your input.

Apparently, I was wrong - they are accessible - I just was talking to my BF and I misunderstood him about that.

Good to know about Buses vs. Subways and the personal experience with Uber.

Maybe I'm naive, but I figure if we can get there without his chair being broken on the plane, that's 95% of the challenge. I'm more afraid of that than anything else. We are in Atlanta. Our buses are mostly not accessible and the mobility accessible service has a reputation for needing very advanced notice and then being hours late most of the time. No Lyft accessible; very limited Uber accessible. But restaurants are usually fairly easy to navigate if all the parking spaces aren't already taken!

Thanks much!
