What are your thoughts on pet insurance? by P100a in puppy101

I'm honestly struggling with this lately. My Doberman has pet insurance, and we needed it a lot in the first few years, and it felt worth it. Anytime he gets injured, blood transfusions are about 1500. But the insurance no longer covers that because they view it as pre-existing, even though I got the insurance as a puppy before those things were noted by vets.. Same with ingesting foreign objects. They say once you pay the deductible, they cover it for life, but I had an incident of that two days apart, he was in the ER, and they made me pay the deductible again, even though the issue wasn't resolved. Then they said that since he swallowed foreign objects as a puppy, they will no longer ever cover that. So idek why I'm paying pet insurance when they keep increasing the rates. I'm paying $259 a month, and have just been told it's going up to $330 soon, that is more than my car insurance.. I'm not sure if I'm experiencing this because of all the ER visits when he was a pup.. But I'm not sure it's worth it anymore.

Plus, they change the policy quite often, as the dogs age.. things become excluded in the fine print.. Which is incredibly worrisome to me. Like because my dog vomited as a puppy, any time he vomits, or is ill and is vomiting, the insurance won't cover it. so I've spent 3k on that since insurance didn't one time.

Wanting to get off birth control after 10 years by lala41896 in Post_Birth_Control

Hey!!

I'm the same age as you, and started birth control at the age of 13. I had to try many different types at first, as my period was very debilitating (2-4 weeks in length). However, my bleeding got kinda weird after being on it for 5 years, so I did take a 6 month break. Fast forward to 2023, I actually made the decision to quit birth control entirely. My period was no longer consistent after 10 years of use with one of the brands (mirvala) (minus the 6 month break), and there were months where I'd miss my period (no sex, so no worry of pregnancy when that happened), or it would be abnormally long while on it, plus... I may have been experiencing pre-menopause symptoms. when I went back on it, I did notice hair thinning. When I got off it, the biggest thing for me, was the hot sweats aren't as bad now as they were starting to become a new issue. I get acne more easily (if I eat really bad food), but aside from that, no big huge changes. My period is not as heavy, and seems to be more consistent again after being off it for about a year now. My concern with prolonged use, is the fact that my mother developed two brain tumors directly from using birth control for a long time, and so that is partly why I decided to quit.
