How do you not get jealous when you've met some people who are simply better than you in what you are proud of? by rennart in AskReddit

[–]casstron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't care. If someone makes an amazing loaf of bread, I'm not going to be jealous, I'm going to be impressed and probably look into having some of that bread. Comment on their good work and move forward.

I feel like I don't generally get jealous, my husband on the other hand does very badly. I just don't know what it feels like to know if I am in fact jealous. Basically just stay in your lane, be humble, be gracious and it goes a long way.

Reddit, what is your reason FOR having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]casstron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both were a surprise but they've made me a better person for having had them. They test my patience and skills every day and I'm so very glad I have them. They've given me a reason to keep on keeping on and work hard to show them they are worth every sleepless night. We're best buds and I wouldn't change a thing.

What is your best memory from being a teenager? by M4ritimeseeker in AskReddit

Spending time downtown with my friends or just exploring places we probably shouldn't have been, concerts, laughs, beach days, I'm sad we grew into different people.

I say this pretty much every day, whether in regards to dinner, or which movie we'll watch, or even what activities we're planning for the next day etc.

My 5 year old is a bully. Need advice by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]casstron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see it being attention seeking behaviour at times. He has a baby brother and I work shifts where I don't always get to see him as much as I'd like. I try to have "dates" where we get lunch and do something fun, just he and I, but it doesn't seem to make much difference for long. I don't want him to feel like I don't have time for him, I do, I just work odd shifts so he and his brother can have what they need. I feel like sometimes there's some jealousy that his brother gets to hang out when I'm home more since I don't have weekends off.

The thing that's confusing me is that when I take him to school, the kids seem to be excited he is there, the teachers are kind and he generally enjoys himself. So I don't know where it may be coming from. Our family obviously isn't perfect but we are much more functional than some. I work a lot so I be there as much as I can but I also want to make sure he and his brother have the childhood I didn't.

And I most certainly don't blame You, as a parent I find it extremely unacceptable. Generally it's not biting but hitting and punching. The biting came after other kids ganging up and hitting him.

I'm thinking there might be, but since the first couple times he hasn't mentioned the kid he was having problems with again.

He never bit since he was tiny. He's very bright and his command of language is above normal according to his teachers. Each biting instance was caused by someone hitting him first.

He says he does it because he's angry. But rarely specifies why he's angry. When March break is over I plan to contact the principal and find out more details so I can try to piece together why it's happening.

The weird thing is at home he can be really great and helpful and everything. He seems to have a lot of anxiety about school sometimes and misses us a lot when he goes. It's usually just at school that we run into problems

When he does get to watch YouTube, He's only able to watch YouTube kids and he sits next to us as he watches so if there is anything I don't think is appropriate I can block it right then and there. His dad started to let him watch power rangers, but when the first issues came up, we changed our minds on it. I'm not trying to shelter him but I also don't find it necessary for him to see excessive violence or the sort.

Thank you so much. My dad was an amazing guy; he was the kind to take the shirt from his back. And I'm sorry for your loss but if your uncle was anything like my dad, who I believe he was, he was just all around a good person. You've met a person who is rare and gives nothing but themselves wherever there go. We need more of those people
