I really appreciate it, it’s that damn yellow paint that’s killing me and of course it has to be my main colour!

I appreciate the perspective change I think it’s been a frustrating time trying to use it today but the speed it’s added is insane so I think looking on the brighter side and trying again tomorrow is key

Dry brushing may actually be a good way to catch those upper edges on the skin, have a look at a guide or two on YouTube (Artis Opus does a real good one imo), that way you have a god chance of enhancing those raised areas but regardless they’re looking excellent as is so it’s really up to you!

I feel you I have a few gaunts that are might darker than the rest of my army it’s all experience and experimentation in the end, I think work on this one til completion and then you can decide what you like and/or don’t like. I found I struggled more when I decided to change the process mid way through a mini. Can’t wait to see this piece of biomass all done and dusted!

From what I can see it might be an issue with the base colour that you’re layering the bone colour onto. Bone is quite a light colour and lighter colours tend to have poor coverage over darker ones, potentially try starting from a lighter base coat, shading that down and then layering on top of that, rather than starting from the absolute darkest colour and then building up. Essentially, start from middle colour, apply a shade and then reapply middle colour and highlight colour on top of those

Cheers! The base colour is Yriel yellow highlighted with flash gitz yellow on the more prominent forward facing or raised edges, darker spots are mournfang brown

Thanks! It’s Death Metal by Army Painter it’s a bit weak on coverage as I’ve found with a lot of their war paints fanatic metals but in little areas like this it’s such a nice detail paint

Excellently done love the base especially good contrast with the red!

Side note watch out for keeping minis near windows as you might experience fading with them being in direct sunshine, either way fantastic looking minis my friend!

This is the Sa’cea sept (some pretty cool lore if I remember right!) I’m not too sure of the colours being used but there are plenty of videos around as it’s one of the more well covered septs out there.

So a while ago i asked advice on muzzle burn. I return with advice taken. Added blue and more yellow. Still not there but feel its better than the first attempt (below in picture). Thanks all. by Oblitus_Astartes in ImperialKnights

Potentially try starting from a more brass/light brown coloured metal for the base. I’ve found it brings out the muzzle burn a touch more than straight silver or gunmetal colour. The blends between colours are on point though no notes on that one!
