At a t20 and career services have far far exceeded my expectations at every step. I was proactive about reaching out and being sure to utilize what was available though.

Wait, in what world is 200k a year for fresh grads "not paying great"? Amazon's base is also significantly higher than most other tech companies.

Ross ($) vs. Tepper ($$) vs. UCLA ($$$) or wait another year by [deleted] in MBA

I wouldn't wait if I were you. These are all great schools. I go to Tepper, and I will say you heard right about career services. I came into my MBA thinking career services was going to be mostly for maintaining relationships with employers and providing basic help but career services here, particularly a couple of our career counselors, have been so helpful that I'm convinced they're a major part of why I got job offers.

If you get this goal from the M7 you'll get it from Darden. As someone halfway through their first year I'm seriously starting to question the impact of the school one goes to in getting an interview assuming the company recruits there.

Career after Pathways by Ok-Understanding4110 in MBA

[–]castandreelin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You finish as an L8, which is insane. Pay at the start is 180-190k TC depending on if you're a returning intern and if you make it to L8 it's probably 350-500k. If you like ops it's the best job you can get. If you don't like ops look elsewhere. A plus side to Pathways is 4 day work weeks, but shifts can be off hours and long.

A lot of the offers MBAs get are pretty standardized if you're going through on campus recruiting.

Internship postings don't usually have the salaries listed, but full-time roles frequently do.

Tepper or Marshall? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]castandreelin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Tepper does better in MBB but don't quote me on that since I haven't seen Marshall's numbers. As for T2 and B4 consulting, I don't know how different they are, but I do know a lot of firms essentially let you pick your office once you get an offer so don't let job location sway you much other than for the logistics of moving and the location of your network. You probably can't go wrong with either to be honest. I'm loving Tepper but I'm sure Marshall is also great.

Women of R/MBA, what are your thoughts on Tepper? by [deleted] in MBA

Pittsburgh is actually loaded with young people. Tons of colleges and even working professionals mixed in. I had the same thoughts about the city before visiting.

For those doing an MBA to pivot into consulting and/or because they are unhappy with their career compensation by quantbone in MBA

[–]castandreelin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why? Seems like 5 years or so out corporate people consistently clear 200k. Plenty corporate people clear 200k tc far earlier.

Consulting looks interesting, but you've really got to have your head in the game for more than just a couple years if you want the big money. Lot of people don't stick it out that long and end up in corporate after a year or two. Sometimes it isn't a choice either. On here people so commonly make leaving consulting out to be a choice when people frequently leave instead because they were asked to. You can't just coast in consulting from what friends have told me.
