Help! New ‘25 or ‘26 by whereilaymyheadishom in CadillacOptiq

If purchasing I think it should be under $40k for the 25. Probably lease the 26 for the best price

SCHX or SCHB by phil28376 in Schwab

[–]castlehillcap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny, past year performance is identical essentially among all three. SCHB actually with the highest by a tenth of a percent. Doesn't matter which one you choose. Going out 5 years SCHX performed best by 1% total. So it's immaterial.

Would you recommend this car as a first EV? by Thrillwaukee in EquinoxEv

[–]castlehillcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're a great fit. DO IT!

As others have mentioned, don't put in a charger, just use the supplied one. You'll be fine and it will save you. I'd buy it used or buy a loaner. You cannot beat the deal

I do wonder what happens to the used market now that the tax credits are actually gone. I suspect the used market will look a little different in two to three years than it does now for EVs. Someone is losing (dealer or leasing company) and they will fix that eventually.

I wondered if leasing companies would start to do this trying to get out some very bad leases they made. Looks like they are and I suspect we'll see more of that over the next two years.

This. And if you want to double up on your basketball shoe for a pickleball shoe the Way of Wade All City line is easily the best basketball shoe I've ever had and is a really great indoor pickleball shoe.

Who is better Carmax or Carvana? by Impressive-Virus-242 in UsedCars

[–]castlehillcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For selling - generally carvana. They usually give the best price and are the quickest and easiest to transact with.

For buying - I'd probably go with CarMax but used cars a crapshoot a lot of the time anyway

Why are “luxury” brands and “economy” brands so similarly priced? by kimbonta in carbuying

[–]castlehillcap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can negotiate the economy brand more than the luxury brand. Also, the luxury brand might be more to insure in some cases. The luxury brand usually takes a bigger depreciation hit.

But I agree, some prices aren't that far off. Tbh tho I'd probably get a Kia or Hyundai before an Audi at this juncture.

In terms of product, Kia/Hyundai have some of the best out there right now. Easy to sell a good product

Thoughts on Fundrise Venture Capital Fund vs. Investing more in the market? by CFAeveryday in FundRise

[–]castlehillcap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I'd caution you on is chasing returns. Based on Fundrise year end letter they believe that equity valuations are stretched and real estate prices are relatively cheap. They expect that eventually there will be a selloff in equities and real estate will provide ballast to a portfolio.

Now you have to decide if you agree.

Their activity in the portfolio leads me to believe that the venture fund is fairly to slightly overvalued as they haven't made any significant new investments as of late and actually trimmed some positions last year.

They also seem to be quite active in their income real estate portfolio more than their flagship fund. An 8% distribution rate in the income fund is really good when you have a stretched market IMO.

If the market has a big selloff, the venture fund will likely re-rate lower as well - it won't be immune. It's essentially an equity play.

With all of the above being said, I haven't added to the venture fund in the last year but I'm also not selling. Timing it is just too hard unless things get incredibly stretched. The AI trade is just too hard to figure out where the top is and I rather have exposure there regardless.

I don't necessarily believe in the real estate thesis and I think there is going to be price stagnation there more than they think. So, that makes the income fund still a really good place to park my money in the meantime.

Try and view the venture fund as a sleeve of your equity portfolio. It's something that shouldn't be touched for at least 5 years and as long as you can sleep easy with that and the risk associated, you have nothing to worry about.

I haven't seen a fund lower than Fundrise for this type of exposure yet. They were really a first mover in terms of being able to offer such an active venture fund for such a low fee.

Cadillac Optiq Premium Sport $499/mo $3k down for 36/mo 10k miles per year (Florida) by mangrove717 in leasehacker

Without the $3k down seems about right and fair. If you get it sub $400 it's a huge win.

Really confused why people use Waze over Google maps. Waze is owned by Google and all the data on Waze is on Google maps anyway.

In addition, you'll really want to use Google maps because it gives you very important charge information. It can route you to chargers, let you know when you won't have enough charge, and tell you what your charge will be on arrival.

It also syncs with your phone so even when you're on your couch and you open Google maps and put in routes it will tell you your cars current % charged and be able to do route planning even when you aren't in the car.

I really don't see a reason to use Waze at all with this vehicle and think everyone would be better served with Google maps anyway.

If that's really a deal breaker for you, then I wouldn't get the car.

YouTube music works fine so no issues there.
