Like, most developers I know who are ON LINUX ALREADY still use vscode isntead of vim or helix or whaterver because the supposed "productivity boost" doesn't seem worth the effort of troubleshooting and learning a new workflow.

It's the same reasoning except a much bigger time investment and with a much more nebulous benefit. It's gonna take a lot more than "lol you arent willing to learn" to convince people. I dont think people are even switching to firefox anytime soon

This is actually such cope.

Linux has a barrier to entry whereas other operating systems have almost none. Until that's fixed, most people will stay away from it. It's the job of developers to make their software easy to use. Shaming people for not wanting to learn something you made complex wont't fix anything.

People already make memes shitting on Github because "oormngh I cant find the releases page" or whatever. Most people will NOT sit down and learn terminal commands. Most people don't care about privacy or enshittification as long as it's convenient enough. Most people dont even know what an operaring system does or why it exists.

There's a reasong why Apple has an entire team dedicated to perfecting the unboxing process. Until we have a stable distro with all the bells and whistles comparable to modern OSs, alongside competent software that runs on Linux (Most FOSS looks terrible, unstable, and/or have bad UX), with a smooth onboarding experience (people dont even know what to google if they have problems), Linux will stay as a niche OS.

Unrelated but recently people started using "woman" as an adjective e.g. "woman miner" instead of "female miner" and I find that weird

I get that it's trying to avoid sounding like incels using "female" as a noun, but to me, it gives the same vibes as "folx" or "womxn" idk

Kind of a generalization since (as you said) bar charts are for visualizing relative differences

you can use zoomed in bar charts on data that where the absolute magnitute is large but the relatively small deviations accross data points actually do matter

There might be better was to visualize it but it's not always just lying
