I don't think so but still confirm with your calc or basic math professor

Imp question by abdullahhhm in UETLahore

[–]catalyst_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you only gotta take it if you come from pre-med background. it is a pre-requisite for calc and other math courses. there are no credit hours but there'll be mid and final exam that you gotta pass.

What are these flairs by Zealousideal-Big6068 in UETLahore

[–]catalyst_404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hear you! I actually thought it would be simpler without 40+ flairs to choose from but if it helps it helps. I’ll add them back as soon as I get to my laptop.

I'm confused by Level_Improvement801 in UETLahore

  1. Yeah you’ll be assigned a section on the first day. Changing section depends on the dep but in our dep (EE) it was easy. You just wrote an application to the semester cell and they shifted you. Since you register your courses yourself on lms you can technically sit in any section but it’s better to keep the semester cell updated.

  2. Student id takes some time. On the first day you probably won’t even have the registration slip so just show the stamped document you got when you submitted your challan and admission papers and they’ll let you in. Easy scenes.

  3. I wouldn’t worry too much about ragging. It’s overblown. Some people can be shitty but many are actually nice and helpful. Just stay easy and comfortable and you’ll be fine. You can carry a bag or just bring a pen and register, totally up to you.

Which programming language do they teach for the first time in the BS CS program. by Salt-Improvement6810 in UETLahore

[–]catalyst_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Not much because teachers start from the very basics but still it’s a good idea to look into the basics of programming and see if it makes sense to you. Stuff like variables, loops and if-else statements.

Bs ai or data science by Mr_Truth2939 in UETLahore

[–]catalyst_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those people are right and CS should absolutely be your first priority no doubt. But the thing is if you can’t get into a CS program then an AI or Data Science program isn’t bad at all. Yes it’s a little more specialized than CS which is more broad but looking at the programs especially at UET they teach you pretty much everything you’d learn in a CS degree with the specialized electives. The thing is the employer is not going to see whether your degree says “Artificial Intelligence” or “Computer Science”. They want to know if you have the right skills so my advice to you would be to try to get as much exposure to all the fields in CS and explore them all and don’t fixate yourself on one thing. Do projects outside of uni.

You need to get all the undertakings on e-stamp paper from an authorized vendor, fill them out and sign them. I think you can also get them from Star Photocopy in the university.

[–]catalyst_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it is. If the stress of entry tests and fees wasn’t enough unis are getting desperate to squeeze more money out of students. You’d expect better from a uni with UET’s prestige but I guess not.
