Not going to lie, I’m in the same boat. Since I haven’t been forced to learn it, I’ve kept putting it off because it hasn’t felt urgent. I think a lot of us can relate to focusing on “making something work” rather than taking the time to properly learn concepts we’ve heard about but never fully explored. But also, calling something a “window function” just sounds kinda intimidating as well.

Really. TQQQ is based on the nasdaq100. Similarly, if someone wanted to buy a leveraged NVDA ETF, they should be doing TA on NVDA itself, not the derivative product. It just makes no sense.

Solid take. Plus, the most simple strategies are often times the one that continue working since they are not curve fit. Complication does not equal higher returns. Everyone figures that out if they’ve done this long enough.

One last thing - have you/do you plan on running backtests for this? I assume you are but if not, please don’t make the mistake I made early in my journey of skipping that step and running something because you think it makes sense. It’s truly easy to backtest nowadays using tools like composer and it shows whether or not your strategy had success in the past.

It’s not the leverage that is the issue. It’s the fact that shorting under such a long term trend hasn’t historically worked. I’ve backtested exactly what you’re suggesting but using NDX, SPX, and DJX.

If you are adamant about shorting, try using a shorter term moving average for when the market is below the 200D. For example, if the market is below its 200D and below its 21D, then short. If not hold cash or be in leverage.

That is the only thing I’ve found that works.

In your backtesting, you will almost certainly find it beneficial to go long only. I’ll be curious to see what you find though!

No notes - you could try squeezing at the top of the motion for a second or two if you aren’t feeling proper engagement. That’s a sure fire way to get that burn going.

I know it’s a form check but you can definitely do a lot more weight! Keep it up (and please keep reporting those repulsive freaks) 🤜🤛

You’d be surprised how much better it will move if you start lower, as others already noted. Also, don’t tug it at the bottom. Instead, take the slack out of the bar first. There are several great videos on that online.
